Came to find a tutorial on sewing a Christmas stocking. Yours is the first one I watched and it’s perfect. No need to look any further.

I have now made two stockings using your pattern and tutorial. I'm very pleased with the way they turned out.

Thank you - this is exactly the video that I needed to get my head around how I do a lined stocking with a cuff.

Same! I’ve seen 2 blog tutorials and 2 or 3 videos that weren’t really clear enough to help me figure it out. :-) Thank you!

That was a much easier way than I had been doing. Thank you.

Thank you! This was easy to understand. I am cross stitching Shepherd's Bush stockings for my grandkids and am going to make my own pattern for the stocking, because the size of the finished cross stitch is kind of odd. I'm glad you mentioned buying you a cup of coffee too, I didn't know that option existed.

If I wanting to embroider an initial on the cuff, can you help me with what direction it should be embroidered / which way to fold the cuff when putting all three layers together?

That Madewell shirt used for the video, then repurposed?
@SewDIY Жыл бұрын
I made the shirt I'm wearing in the video using the Cheyenne pattern from Hey June Handmade. I have lots of fabric leftover and used some as a lining for this stocking.

Should I add interfacing?
@SewDIY2 жыл бұрын
In general, I don't think interfacing is necessary and have never used it in my stockings. I recommend using medium weight fabric for the exterior and light weight fabric for the lining. The combo of the two provides enough thickness and shape for me. That said, if you want to use a thinner fabric and/or want a stiffer stocking then you can try interfacing. I would be cautious about adding it to the cuff because it needs to fold in half easily. I hope that helps!

What are the measurements for the cuff. I don't have a printer 😂.
@bubbles2868 Жыл бұрын
Easier to stack the main fabric, right sides together, then the lining on top of that with right sides together, and sew all at once.

But to do this, you’d need to leave a spot un-sewed to flip it, which leaves a small seam on outside, right?

I want to try this pattern please but I do not know how to subscribe to your newsletter or how to get the pattern downloaded. Please can you tell me how to do this? Thank you. Vera

Hi Vera, All the links are in the show notes.
@heatherconte54452 жыл бұрын
To get to the link to subscribe to the newsletter and get the pattern you would click the down arrow that is to the right of the video title. Once you click that all the information will pop up. Scroll til you get to the link to subscribe to the newsletter. Hope that helps. I know a lot of people arent aware of the drop down arrow so wanted to explain it in a way that I hope makes sense.

Sorry, this is way too complicated. I’ll keep looking for the method to sew lining and stocking in one go.
@myralynnette5 күн бұрын
It’s not complicated at all. I found it easier than turning it out and sewing back up part of it
