Thank you for this tutorial, I get nervous when starting new patterns and I like to see how someone else makes it first so I feel more confident when trying it myself :) I’m expecting my first child in June and I want to make the babies first bear! I also want to add watching this made me think I was watching my late great aunt who lived in NZ as she was a sewist too

Thank you for this. I'm only part way through but it's really helped me understand the instructions. It's the first plush I've made and it didn't make a lot of sense at first, seeing it done is fantastic. I agree the sound effects are pretty loud but the content otherwise is amazing.

Very good! I am just about to make organic cotton toys for babies as the ones made from plastic i.e. rayon, nylon, polyester, etc are not good in my opinion - plus they don't bio-degrade after use. I liked the fact you bought stuff from 'thrift' stores. Good thinking. As yet, I have just bought a machine and only stitched 7 inches of cotton towel together. Your video (and some others) is good research before the big, teddy push of 2019.

fantastic tuturial thank you. I love the step by step guide, it really does help. I would love our memory teddies to sit with their arms and legs closed (ish), do you have any ideas to help me make this happen please. These memory bears are not to be played with so we would just love them sitted if at all possible and of course i am even going to try and clothe them hehe. I lost my father in June so this is no easy task as i can smell my daddy all the time as i am uses hisnfavourite clothes . Thank you advance for any advice you can give me xx
@stitchtovictory5356
@stitchtovictory5356 5 жыл бұрын
The way this pattern is designed, the legs and arms naturally stick out, due to them being all one piece with the body. A traditional bear has separate arms and legs inserted so they go at a different angle. I wonder if tacking the arms and legs in would help, but I suspect that may put too much stress on the bear. If you clothe them with a button up jacket, then perhaps the closed jacket would hold the arms in somewhat?

I haven't finished bunny yet. I have it cut out, but for the longest time was afraid of the darts...so I just stopped. I was have trouble seeing where to sew as I have cataracts and the light where I sew was poor. Fast forward a number of months. I have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was caught incredibly early so I have a fighting chance. A few days after I had the surgery to remove the cancer I was at home walking with a walker. I went into my garage (wasn't supposed to by myself). I got dizzy, fell and cracked the back of my head open. It required 5 staples and 4 days in hospital. So I am now working at getting over that too. I have chemo ahead of me yet. I am happy. I bought a light I attached to my sewing machine and boy howdy it put bright light right where I need it. It will be easier to see my bunny so I can finish them. I love sewing, but I'm a little horrid at it. Your video helps me immensely. I'm am going to sew for health and happiness . Going to fight the good fight. Thank you again for these videos. I truly appreciate them.

@stitchtovictory5356

Yes, but just make sure that the narrowest part of the pinked cut is a quarter inch so you don't impinge on your seam allowance. A quarter inch is not much to work with!

What kind of material is best? Can I use a t shirt?
@stitchtovictory5356
@stitchtovictory5356 4 жыл бұрын
No, tshirts aren't suitable because they're made of stretchy knit fabric which won't work for this pattern. You would be best to stick to a strong woven fabric - quilting cotton would be good.

Do you have to cut it right sides together?
@AriDimitris
@AriDimitris 10 ай бұрын
Is there a way I can ask you specific questions? For instance, on the dog pattern,which I assume is almost identical, it says step 3, sew 1/2". I sewed the two front pieces together there, but after sewing the rest later, this interferes so I assume I need to undo the part where I stitched them together. Also it says to sew the darts on the hind foot on the front, but not the back. So when do I see the darts on the back? And how do I sew the front to the back at the crotch? I have photos and videos but don't know how to send them to you.

I have a question if I may. I'm using 44" (115CM) material. In looking at the cutting layouts in the pattern directions it seems one of the pieces is to be cut printed side down, on the fold. Yet the picture for 58" (150CM) shows both sides being cut printed side up. I'm afraid to progress for fear of wasting my material. Could you please help me? I'd also like to thank you for taking time to make the videos you do. I appreciate it so much. ****A friend of mine was able to explain it to me 🤦

How to you incorporate 2 different material patterns on the ears?
@stitchtovictory5356
@stitchtovictory5356 6 жыл бұрын
It's really simple: cut out both front and back as normal. The contrasting fabric is part of the front, so I cut out two ears from the contrast fabric (using the pattern piece) and cut each ear a bit longer than the pattern. Then I cut the ears off the original fabric front, leaving a bit behind. These extra bits form the seam allowance. Then stitch the contrast to the main (right sides together). Best to baste first to make sure the seam is in the right place (when the entire front is laying flat, the ears should fit exactly over the back). I hope this helps!
