Thank you very very much for this pattern and the bright instructions. Wanted for a long time such an apron, made it right away from a medium weight 100% cotton denim. The tip to sew a narrower seam at the round corners worked wonderful, it's amazing I never saw this trick before and I sew for more than 50 years. I also liked how you changed the fabric fold before cutting the pattern, thus saving fabric for later use, so sustainable. Wearing mine now, it gives a cozy homey feeling. Sending you much love from Delft, the Netherlands

@ThoughtfulCreativity I will be watching for the pot holder video. Last year I made bowl and plate cozies with matching napkins. The year before that I made trivets to place hot casseroles and serving bowls on to protect the table. I used 10 inch squares and with right sides together, I sewed around three sides , folded and pressed a 1/4 inch hem to the inside, then turned it right side out and pressed. Next I pressed creases (fold in half twice and press) for the channels I sewed. I filled the channels with rice and three whole cloves in each channel pocket, clip or pin leaving sufficient room for the presser foot, then sewed along all channel tops. When hot dishes are on the trivets, the fragrance of the cloves is pleasant...if you like cloves. I enjoy this part of Christmas. Thank you for all your wonderful projects and sewing ideas.

May I make a suggestion for another project? A man’s shirt turned back to front (buttoned up back) becomes a painting smock for kids. A) the tail cut off straight and used as a pocket at the front B) the collar removed - turned into a mandarin collar instead? C) sleeves cut shorter to fit the child e.g. add elastic cuffs instead

I think it certainly can be! Just need more coverage and problem solving the design so that it does not unexpectedly "pop open". But it can definitely be a fun dress or pinafore, or a little vest/blouse!

Thanks so much for this pattern and video. I made this but I am bigger (39” bust) and the front part is too narrow. How can I adjust this so it covers my entire chest when I put it on? Thanks a million ❤
@ThoughtfulCreativityАй бұрын
Hi Sabrina, let's see - it is very easy. At the 2:53 in this video you see a diagram of "slash and spread technique to make the pattern bigger. The pattern you see is mirrored (so you see the full pattern), you will be working with half of the pattern. You have 2 options. Option Nr1 - draft a straight line from the top of the front strap to the hem. Then do the same on the back strap. Cut through both lines and then spread them by even amount (remember that the patter is on the fold, so if you only need to make front wider by 2", then you would add 1" to you front strap spread and the same amount to the back). This method will make the straps wider, too. Option Nr2 - this method will only make the front wider, straps will stay as they are. Take you pattern, place it in front of you. Take additional piece of paper, tape it to the front of the pattern, from top to bottom. Now add necessary amount of width to the left of the center front (the part that is on the fold). Since the pattern is on the fold the same principle will apply, if you need front be wider by 2", then add only 1" strip of paper to the left of the center front. That's it :) I hope this helps :)
@ThoughtfulCreativityАй бұрын

I am anxious to get at this apron but I have a question. How do I deal with the shoulder joining if I want to make this reversable? Do I leave them both unsewn until I have turned it right side out?
@ThoughtfulCreativityАй бұрын
The best way would be to first do the pockets on both aprons. Then, place them right sides together and sew, leaving the tops of the straps (the narrow parts) unsewn, on both front and back. Turn the apron right side out, press, press, press and topstitch all of the edges (otherwise every time you wash it will be a hot mess coming out of the washer and you will be ironing for a while). Then you will need to carefully place one strap inside of another, tucking in all of the raw edges. That's how I would go about it. Be careful, making an apron like this from two layers can be VERY bulky and might not be comfortable to wear. I hope this helps :)

Can you tell how much yardage you used? I need to make two bigger adult size aprons. Thank you. Such a great pattern
@ThoughtfulCreativityАй бұрын
it is about 40" by 40" for the entire apron. Some fabrics shrink after wash considerably, so might need to add a bit more of a safety margin. But if you're going for quilting cotton, which is often 44" wide, then you will need about 1 yd and 4" for 1 apron, approximately. Once you put the pattern together (it is really quick), you can then do a "tissue test" - just place the pattern on your body and see if you need more length to add and etc, that will ensure that you have everything you need for your project :)
