After the plandemic, it is so hard to find fabrics that are unique and quality made. Do you have a suggestion as to where I might find cute, feminine fabrics such as the cherry blossom rib knit used in this vid, Anastasia? Thanks 😎

I am surprised that I shouldn't stretch the elastic. Thank you for showing so many ways. Would you demonstrate applying clear elastic and the situations it would be used for, if you haven't already. Thank you!

I think clear elastic is used as a seam stabilizer. I just bought some to sew polar fleece.

I have not done a video on clear elastic. I will add it to my list.

Yeah you can use it there. It also gets used a lot in lingerie and swimwear along with cocktail dresses.

@Sew Anastasia - that double needle stitch looks interesting, reminiscent of the Levi's Jean golden thread stitch seen at the outside of the leg.

Totally. You can use a twin needle on woven fabrics too. The twin needle has a lot of uses. You can use it at the neck of a t shirt too. Thank you for watching 😊

I've always wondered if there was an elastic you used on underwear which you didn't have to stretch as you sewed it. I've seen this FOE at my local stores, but, never knew how to sew it onto my projects. Looks easy - peasy !!! 😉

Great tutorial! I've been using the first method, but I'll try the others. I'd lod to see how to start and finish FOE and bias tape!

Hi. What if the pattern tells me to stretch the elastic as I sew? I find it so hard to sew it with just one step, so I followed your 3rd method.
@LydiaDeHep

Depends on what you are sewing. I stretch as needed on some patterns as per the pattern. Sewing in one step takes time to learn.

what about using triple stitch vs twin needle which one is better for fold over elastic
@SewAnastasia

I’d use a twin needle over a triple stitch.

I compared a 2 mm separation twin needle at 5 mm stitch length vs zigzag stitch default settings and I found that the zigzag stitch is significantly stretchier than the twin needle stitch, is that expected behaviour? or am I doing something wrong ?
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 5 ай бұрын
The zig zag should be stretcher. The twin needle is still creating straight stitches which are for woven fabrics. Even when a cover stitch is put in a knit it stops it from stretching.

when you use the fold over elastic method, does the size of the fabric have to be a little bigger than the size needed? For example, lets say I was making a bol cover, I would have to sew the fold about 1/4 to 2'' bigger than the size that I need to cover the bol. Same thing with the fold over method or no? thx
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 5 ай бұрын
If you want the elastic to gather something up you will need to make the elastic smaller then he fabric.

I got the fold over Elastic and tried to sew a bol cover.. the machine gets stuck on the elatic everytime I pull on it.. im working in the round on top of that... totally not working for me. I must be doing something wrong as usual.@@SewAnastasia

Why don't you stretch it as you sew? I am working on some wrist elastic and it feels like the only way to make it tighter around the wrists.
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 6 ай бұрын
It really depends on what you are sewing. You might have a project that needs you to stretch it to gather it up?
