Geez Louise. Well I thought that I knew how to sew on a button and had nothing to learn, but alas I stand corrected! From the toothpick spacer to the loops underneath I have a feeling that my buttons will stay attached much longer. Thank you!!

I thought, 'oh, I'll watch this and I might learn something.' I did, after 50+ years of sewing my own buttons on I learned a couple new things; first, the toothpick. And second, the little 'knot with the needle.' An excellent video. Thanks for your time and effort. YVR

I have been sewing on buttons since my very early teens and I’m 64. You CAN teach old dogs new tricks! Love this channel!

I wish I had been able to see the little stitch and wrap thread knot under the button. Not sure if you could magnify that closer next time or how to show detail larger but that trick is new to me. You always come up with so many everyday tips that we do not even realize we need. Thank you. Really enjoy your tutorials.

Thank you! I show that knotting stitch a few times, but I think this stop point is easier to see. Try watching at this marker point and see if it is easier to see. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKqbYpRtrt5jkKs

@@JanHowell Yes Jan, that was easier to see. I could enlarge it just a bit and that helped to. Thank you so much for sharing it this way.

Hey Jan, I have some vintage snaps that I have been using, both very small and larger. I'm wondering if there is a right way to hand-sew on snaps? Some that I have tried don't look very good. thx

The trick to sewing on snaps, is to keep the stitches really tight and small around the snap.

A toothpick! Ok, that's what I will use from now on. And I have always sewed top down and was never that neat about it.

I love these back to basics tutorials. Are sharps the same thing as needles? Heard the term on another site and just wondered.

Hi Brinda, glad you are liking the videos. Sharps are a general purpose sewing needle.
