I've made several fitted sheets with elastic. This method is very simple, and utilizes those corner cutouts well! Next fitted sheet I will try this!

@@barbra429 If you are using inches, just use inches to get your mattress measurements. . You can measure your actual mattress depth and length and width. Add 6 inches to the length and width to get fabric you will need (that allows for 3" overhangs - well actually under as it will go under the mattress. What ever the depth (thickness of your mattress is) add the 3 inches to it and mark the corner squares as she did. Then mark in 5/8 inch for seam allowance inside those lines - (as she did). Sew and finish as she did.

She added 4 centimeters, which is about 1.6 inches. for no elastic, this may be better. I was reverting back to my traditional fitted sheet with elastic, sorry. For her method, use her measurements.

Вы попробовали сшить такую модель? Меня очень смущает то, что периметр матраса получается намного меньше периметра отверстия простыни. Как надевать? если матрас гибкий, типа паролонового - то да, возможноо, а как "впихнуть" туда жесткий (пружинный) матрас?

We have a 1988 class c motor home with a really odd sized mattress..51" x 77"..talk about an odd size.. With a bad back I really don't like having to make this bed one bit... we could never find the right size fitted sheet. I decided to look for patterns and ideas to sew one or two myself. I am so glad I did too..this is a wonderful idea without a doubt. And the finished product is wonderful looking. I will be trying this very soon. I can't thank you enough. Thank you for this video, that a couple people shared in our sewing group....actually clean sewing room group....for a member looking for fitted sheet modfication for a very slippery mattress. I have a King sheet I need to make long Twin and was not looking forward to sewing in elastic. Very easy to follow. The math is very well shown.

I really like the idea of making my own sheets as I am having trouble finding on that actually fits. The description is in English, but all the instructions in the video are not. English directions would be very helpful.

It's really easy to follow the lady's instruction. The difference is you need to measure the height of your mattress and the length on all 4 sides, just substitute your sizes of your large mattress and with her smaller one. Hers is a child's mattress, not an adult one. Follow her drawing on the blank paper and put in you sizes of your mattress, where she has put her sizes of her small mattress.The 4 corner cutouts will be larger , because your mattress height is higher. Its very important to measure correctly. The seams allowances remain the same as hers; they do not change, because this is the standard sewing. It's really easy, once you start. If stuck, just go back to her video and remember your mattress sizes, and not hers. Once you start it becomes easy. Try this first with some cheap material, just in case you make a mistake. Remember If you make a mistake, this is how you learn, because of the mistakes. Mistakes are a good thing. Good luck......you can do it.

@@fritula6200 thanks for mentioning making one first with cheaper fabric. Muslin comes in 108 widths so that would be very helpful to test out and if I make a mistake I can use it as foundation for strip quilt!
