How To Share A Dream Without Being Annoying

Ok so we’ve all been there right? Your friend starts telling you about a dream they had and they’re just going on and on being so annoying and you just want to scream at them that you don’t care, but you can’t because you don’t want to hurt your friends feelings.
And then the next night you have an insane dream and you wake up just bursting, needing to tell someone. But: how can you make sure you don’t make whoever you tell want to die of boredom?
1: Never bring up a dream without thinking about it first. If someone brings up something that reminds you of your dream, simply say that. If you can't remember any details don't use this as an opportunity to search your mind and slowly pontificate.
2: Know that sharing a dream with someone is asking them for a favor. There's simply no real way for a listener to respond to a dream story, it's not based in the real world, there's no way for them to engage. All they can do is politely sit there and nod, and ask basic questions out of politeness.
3: This doesn't mean that you shouldn't ever tell someone your dream. It just means that when you do, you want to keep the audience in mind, and make sure that you're ready to go with 1-2 relevant details. This means the interaction won't take too long, and you can surprise your friend with a thoughtfully short rendition of your nighttime slumbers!
