How to share a folder in Windows 11

I cant tell you how often and hoe many tutorials I watch about all sorts of things and like 95% of them dont work the way they appear. The way you explained this worked 100% no problems. No extra googling, no chain tutorials. Saved me like 45 minutes of suffering and research! Thanks! This is why I tend to "youtube" things instead of "googling" them now.

THANK-YOUUUUUUUU. So I changed my user account to a Local Account. And I upgraded Windows 11 Home to Pro ($89AUD from PCMAG). But still I was getting nowhere. But then I realised that all I hadn't done yet was add 'Everyone' as an option. I hope I actually needed to follow all of the prior steps as well oops.

It was a user already created. Just go to accounts in settings to create one.

You can use a thing called LAPS, but you need active directory and group policies. Otherwise, no.

@@techpub interesting, i can't view the password and username for a computer I'm trying to have other's access it. i use the email and password i use for onedrive online and the other computers still can't connect with that information. I had to create a new local account that goes unused to simply have a local username and local password I could enter on the remote computers to allow access to the folders of the host computers. a bit ridiculous.

Home users are supposed to be able to do this ? All these years later ? I was working in a software store when the very first shipments of windows came out and it’s still junk. It’s actually worse because I used to be able to make this work to play mortal Kombat and Quake with my kids. Now I can’t. You know how I’m going to share files? I’m going to buy a couple really big external usb drives and sneaker net . It’s easier .

This is really designed for Win 11 pro and enterprise. Most of my subs are from the sysadmin community. Sorry it has caused you issues.

it didn't work at first. than later I found that sharing will not work if the PC account is an Microsoft account method! so I changed the account to local account then worked! Windows sucks! thanks for the video
