@@ExcelForFreelancers I was thinking it would be a good idea as an add-in…very much the same as your Data Import! But an upgrade to a compact add-in utilizing User Form. Maybe an option to skip specific specified Rows during the loop…the skip rows in a textbox comma deliminated by user or something dynamic 🤷‍♂️.

Hi and thanks so much. I am using Excel 365, however I have made sure not to use any formulas or functions from any new version, which means this will work with any WIndows desktop Excel version. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Really genius, Randy! Congratulations on this :) With a few mods, this seems like a useful way to track / approve / undo changes, too. Question: will your clever change event be triggered with changes made by macros, if those macros follow the change-one-cell-at-a-time rule? Or could we expect issues due to speed differences between writing data to cells and saving files to disk? If that were the case, perhaps listing changes on a helper sheet, or in an array, would allow for catch-up writing to disk. Curious to know if you’ve tried anything like this with automated cell changes :)

Hi and thanks so much. The only changes that will be triggered by a macro is if that macro makes changes within the range that has been set to track changes as long as its a single cell at a time. Writing text files to the drive happens extremely fast and hundreds can be done within a second or two. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Hi Randy, this is again a fantastic training. But I have a question: let's assume that the invoice list is synched. When 2 users create an invoice on their workbook then the invoice number will be the same, but the invoice data will probably be different and will be on the same invoice list row. What will happen after synching? Will there be 2 invoices with the same invoice numer? How can we avoid this?

Hi Benoit, thanks very much for your comment. You can increase the frequency of the syncs and also before any save event you can check for any changes by other users so that it is certain that no new other records have been updated by other users. This can be done by running the Check & Sync macro before any changes are made. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Dear Randy, I have followed all the necessary steps and attempted to log in to the file. However, I encountered an error message stating “wrong number of argument or invalid property assignment”. Additionally, I’m experiencing another issue. When I synchronize the workbook, it doesn’t update all at once. Instead, I have to manually click on ‘Sync Shared Workbook’ for each cell that needs updating. For instance, if four cells need to be updated, I have to click four times. Could you please guide me on how to resolve these issues? Best regards.

Do the other users need to install the Ad In? Or its shared with them the moment you share the workbook with them. Also its not syncing

I’m just truly curious. Why not just use online sharing excel where you can see multiple people working on the same document real time?

Hi Grace, thanks so much for your comment. Its a great question. The reason is that the online version of Excel does not allow macros. Macros are extremely powerful in what you can do such as Worksheet Change events, selection change events and a ton more. All of my templates use macros to automate almost everything. Hi Randy. I know this isn't related to the video. Yesterday when I opened Excel the theme color was changed to white it used to be green. I tried to change it back but it doesn't work. I tried all the options in the dropdown list, Dark Gray, Black, White, Use system settings and Colorful. Although they change the theme but not back to the way it was before. Plus I noticed the background isn't working either. Like Calligraphy, Circles and Stripes I tried the page layout theme options but that only changes the colors for the pages. Is this something that Microsoft did.

Hi Dan. Extremely frustrating. I really dislike that as well and it happened to me also after an Office update. To change your theme back to the green go to the Excel Options > General Tab then look for 'Office Theme' and change it to 'Colorful' Above that, in Office Background, I have mine set to 'Calligraphy' I hope this helps and thanks so much.

@@ExcelForFreelancers I tried that already it only changes the top part green and I can see the calligraphy but when I click back to the worksheet I can't see it. Before the top was white and I could see the calligraphy and start up was Green. Anyway thanks.

Hi Randy, this was the solution to my sharing problems and was working for me with my excel workbooks just to see if the ribbon would open and such, no problems. However when I went to start using it setting up members it has come up with a Microsoft Excel form that says "Ribbon is not initialized" when I try to login to a new file as admin. The workbook that was open will also not logout. I have not done anything to the admin password, just added the workbook to the admin account (prior to this error showing up). Any ideas ?

Hi and thanks you can comment that line of code out. it is not needed. Then just restart Excel and it will be fine. Also restarting Excel should fix this as well. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

@@ExcelForFreelancers Tried commenting out the code, but it didn't work, neither did rebooting. I've found and renamed all the addin-files and re-downloaded the xlma file from you again, but still having the same issue. Cannot log in, or if logged in, cannot log out, and the error message about not initialized comes up twice.

The problem seems to be with the Ribbon Refresh, when selecting admin login it asks for and seems to go through the login macro, but then the error msg shows and the ribbon doesn't refresh, stays on login. However if I disable the re enable the addin, it then shows the admin ribbon. Same when login out, msg about not initialized, ribbon stays in the admin view, but if I again turn addin off/on, when selecting Workbook Sharing, the ribbon is in the log out state.

When l share my folder , upon syncing,, its sending back the shared work book from the other user separately. What should l do so that it updates 1 workbook and not create another one.

HI and thanks for your message. When sharing and syncing workbooks, you want to make sure to set the Sync Status as True, so that when it is currently syncing, changes are not being sent back. Before the macro finishes, it should be sent back to false. Noticed that most of your user email addresses are hyperlinks but one is not. Is there a reason for this differentiation?

Everytime users save their workbooks, its creating another copies of the workbook and not updating the selected range of the original workbook. Why is that so?

Hi Randy, I want to share worksheet that have Khmer Font in the worksheet, but it error when worksheet change during I write with Khmer Font. It appear "????" in textfile. How can I sovle that?

Hi and thanks its better to use the character equivalent of the character instead of the Khmer font. You would just need to find the character code, such as Chr(252) You will just have to lookup and find the specific # that corresponds with your characters. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
