How to- Sharpen a reel mower Scott’s Classic

Thank you this was very straightforward and to the point I’ve recently have found an old real style mower that was in my family’s old garage. It has good movement, but the blades are very dull. I look forward to trying this process.

why does it need to be done in reverse?

Your blade imperfections are going to be at the edge of the reel and bedknife. Spinning forward is going to further grow the imperfections. Spinning backwards is working to grind out these imperfections with the bedknife/reel contact.
