Soft brake is a top-notch company with excellent quality parts. Try their lowered brake pedal - unbelievable change to use of the rear brake. Slightly lower angle is enough to make it so much easier to access the pedal for safer stopping.

I love the quality of Softbrake products, but I found it very difficult to get the extended shifter arm on to the shaft. I had to remove the shaft and had to pound the hell out of it with a rubber mallet to get the shifter Arm on the shaft. I called Softbrake and they said that was normal due to the powder coating. I thought that was a bit strange, but it all worked out and thankfully, I did not scratch anything in the process. Yours seemed to go on so easily.
@RidersUnited11 ай бұрын
I slide mine in and out few times before final install. Maybe powder coated guy got a bit generour on your item. Glad it worked out at the end. After complete install I believe it shouldn't give you any more trouble as coating will adjust.

Can't you just loosen the lock nuts on the adjustment rod and turn it? Seems there would be left hand threads on one end and right hand threads on the other end of the adjustment rod..
@RidersUnited6 ай бұрын
I actually never tried that I always remove the shifter rod at least on one end but your approach might work I believe. Let me know as this would be good to know.
@mikeskidmore67546 ай бұрын
@@RidersUnited Right hand threads look strange. Most all Linkages like that or Turn Buckels have normal left hand threads on one and right hand threads on the other. Also I always lube the spherical joints with chain lube..

Not good at 17:50 as the best angle between the shifter and the rod is rectangular, on both sides, shifter and gearbox.
@RidersUnited Жыл бұрын
Would you mind to clarify what you mean by “rectangular angle” I am not clear what you meant. Are you saying arm that goes into trans and shift lever should be vertical and parallel to each other?
@barneysomers8871 Жыл бұрын
It's impossible to achieve a 90 degree angle between the linkage rod and the front shift arm, even when the linkage rod is adjusted to it's shortest length.
@mattg432 Жыл бұрын
@@barneysomers8871 Then the rod is too long. Maybe it belongs to some forward controls.
@barneysomers8871 Жыл бұрын
@@mattg432 Go to 3:15. The aftermarket rod appears to be the same length as the factory installed rod. Take a look at any late model touring model with factory installed components. They all have the front shift arm angled forward.
