Did you use a flatrate box or just normal priority box as shown in this video? If normal, they have no reason to deny it. Sent thousands this way without any issue.

You must have used priority box. I've had workers give me ideas on how to combine boxes to get the flat rate shipping.

some employees don't know what they're talking about. I had one guy in my local office who would never allow me to drop off any "altered" priority boxes (NOT flat rate) and I would tell him that it falls within guidelines because it is not flat rate and he would still not accept. I'd go all the way across town or schedule a pick up and they would take it every time without hesitation.

Thanks for the vid. My local usps didn’t have these boxes so I used O-FRB2 box medium flat rate and this method worked perfectly. Cost me $19.95 to ship a size 10 Nike sb janoski from California to New York with $150 insurance coverage. Hope this comment can help others.

Absolutely! Flat rate boxes you're not allowed to change, but any other USPS box you're welcome to change to fit your needs. Note, this is only for shipping with USPS though, I wouldn't use these boxes and then try to ship with UPS or something

so before shipping, when you are making your postings. When you have to enter item weight and dimensions. Is this without using the usps box or do you weigh the item and measurements once it is in the usps box? i hope my question make sense. I just started selling shoes, and I measured the shoe boxes and took its weight. and that is the information I placed on the platform.

Hi I have a question! So on pirateship/shippo beside the flat rate boxes the priority mail boxes only have a USPS Regional Rate Box A or B. Would you happen to know if any of those options are correct? My rate was $12 for a 2.5lbs box from VA -> NM

Neither of those options would be correct from my understanding. It should just be called priority mail. The flatrate / regional are special options. The price is about correct though as that's a long trip.

Shipping is NOT free... I believe you can order on USPS website, or in person at the facility. I personally buy my labels through ebay. I think shippo has discounted rates online though so I would start there!

@@Jackthekix Won't take what? USPS will take any box, as long as you're not using a flat rate box and then manipulating the size. These are generic boxes from them, you can cut, fold, do whatever you want with no issues. I have shipped several thousands pairs in the last 12 months using these boxes / cuts and have never had any issue.

Pretty much, you can try shippo / pirateship and see if the rates are better for you. But most people selling shoes via USPS or either Ebay sellers or poshmark and you get cheap / free labels through them. But yes, the main point is the free boxes, $1-2 savings doesn't sound like much, but when you're doing 50-100 a week it adds up quickly.

My mother tried this just the other day and the post office made her take the shoes out of the flat rate box. I believe that they shipped it at a cheaper rate instead, didn't provide a refund, and the service provided was slower.

This isn’t a flat rate box, these are just standard priority mail boxes. (They charge according to weight) You can go online on usps and order them for free, they ship em to your house. Once you get them then you can modify them. You cannot modify a flat rate box, if you want a flat rate.

I think you can. What I'd do is get a paper grocery bag and cut it to fit your shoe box - you'd wrap it like a present and seal with packing tape. Then you can write your from and to addresses on it and get it labeled and all that and it won't damage the shoe box. USPS would charge you with their rates for your own box, though, and it wouldn't be as protected as it is in the video, but I think a grocery bag works pretty well.
