Matt, I want to take a minute to tell you how much your videos are needed in my world. I'm 40, from North Carolina, and I've been playing for 22 years. This is my first season back after an 8 year hiatus. I threw everything I knew away and rebuilt my swing and my game. You have been such a huge part of my mental and emotional rebuild, with a huge emphasis on employing your course strategies. You reminded me that golf should be slapstick funny. I started the season a 14 handicap. I am now an 8.6. Only a month ago did I start to see real results from my reboot. My swing is more consistent due to me and and my hard work, but my scores and strategies are so much better due to your insight. Thank you so very much for everything and please continue to post your videos. Best of luck to you.

This is going to sound weird but I'm 40, from North Carolina have been playing for roughly 22 years and this is my first season back after a 5 year hiatus. I have also rebuilt my swing and have just started seeing real on course success and Matt's videos have been a big inspiration to me. If you have a girlfriend named Alison and a dog named Boone then I think we should meet up for a round to find out if we are doppelgangers or something.

@@lb3boone536 LOL! Thats already insanely similar, even without everything else lining up. My wife is Polly, and we have 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 35 koi. I'm not sure there is a large percentage of people out there who could truly unlearn 2 decades worth of mechanics and thought processes, so its not a good approach for most. It has worked for me, and if its worked for you, I would say were in a small group. Its all a brain game and takes real objectivity and discipline and a ton of patience.

This is what I like about your vids...no filler just stuff that helps. Its so true with the commitment portion of the video. I cant tell you how many times I was 70 percent commited and then told myself "well if this works ill be 100% commited the next time" I think you can guess how those work out. I started playing golf two years ago, and averaged 56 on 9 holes. That year I got my 9 hole average down to 52. By the start of my school team 's next season (this year), I had grinded and gotten my average down to 47. After the end of this season my average for 9 was 45. However, despite all this, in tournament play and on 18 holes in general, I would always do poorly. I recently started watching the stress free golf, and my god has it helped. Today, I shot my first 9 holes ever in the 30s and then got that on the back 9 as well. I shot a 78, following all the stress free tips and ideas. It felt awesome! Thanks Matt!

One thing Matt and the book have certainly taught me, 100% of non committed shots are not great - GOTTA BE COMMITTED!!! It makes playing so much more enjoyable and relaxing!! Waiting for the mental vacations part Matt, I need that more than anyone - I get way too stressed out there ! When I'm having a wobbly pop after the round looking at the scorecard I realize it WASNT THAT BAD! Why don't I feel that way ON the course? Mental vacations needed. Awesome stuff again Matt!

Shooting under par is an exercise in not making but one to two mental mistakes max during the round, if any. When I shot 2 under 70, I made three mental mistakes that cost me 3 strokes. Those holes I made a bogey when it should have been par. By the way, you do know most courses consider a hole by a burrowing animal ground under repair right? Free relief.

One question. What's your swing trigger? Mine is a slight pull away from the ball with the clubhead, replace behind the ball, and then hit. With my putter, I bounce the putter off the ground and back down, then hit. Do you forward press? Or is it something unique, like a breaking of the left knee? Just asking out of curiosity.
@GolfSidekick6 жыл бұрын
No swing trigger on my swing or putting. Never thought about that. The only thing I have been doing, since taking up yoga, is recognizing where my tension is held and then releasing it before the swing. Most cases it's my forearms and hands. Relax them and then hit. I don't have any funny things like forward press or knee breaking. I just grip it and rip it.

I can appreciate your strategy but for me I have more than one miss so can't plan a hole as well as you are. But I have realised recently that I have been playing swing during a round and not about playing golf and scoring and handicap has come down last few weeks.
@GolfSidekick6 жыл бұрын
Kevin Clark See when you say you can’t do something, I don’t believe you. Tell me why you can’t plan a hole. The reason you make more than one miss is because lack of commitment to the shot. I had a miss on 5 and I played the shot I knew to play. There is a solution to everything but by saying can’t it eliminates the possibility of it. Now if you said “yet” at the end of your sentence, then I would believe you. You will see in part two there were some REALLY bad misses!!!! Hole 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 all terrible! Next couple days.
@kevinclark50866 жыл бұрын
Believe me I have tried to commit and aim for the right area but then the dreaded miss just appears. I will however try to take your advice at the weekend and play freely and confident.
@GolfSidekick6 жыл бұрын
Misses happen sir. We just roll with the punches and play the next shot well. What are you REALLY thinking on those big misses? Its impossible that there is a good thought plus great commotment behind that shot. There is doubt and fear and youll recognise it better when you become cognizant of it. Then take action and reset
