Loved watching this detailed tutorial! 👏 It would be AWESOME to see a tutorial for headshots with a solid background (like gray). I'm interested to see how (or if) you light the background. 💡

I've seen a shot like these before and I was really amazed by the look. It was very interesting to see how it is done. Will a 70-200 f2.8 be fast enough for the bokeh or is a fast prime mandatory?
@MikeMcGeePhotography3 жыл бұрын
A 70-700mm f/2.8 would be perfect for this type of shoot. That's what I used works great!

How far was the camera from the model? Also, it would be helpful if you provided the power levels of the lights in WS. -6 stops down produces different results depending on whether the light is a DB800, Einstein, Link, or B400.
@MikeMcGeePhotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, thanks for your comments. The camera was approx 6ft from the model, however one can simply match the framing. This was shown at 100%, no crop. So shooting a 70-200mm lens at 140mm, and framing it the same way will determine the distance. (Other photographers may choose a tighter framing, etc.) For the power of the lights, see the key at 21:47 which shows the brand of light for each. The background lights were DigiBees DB800s, and all other lights were Einsteins. Hope this helps!

Are you able to use your Z6II with Paul C Buff strobes? What do you use to trigger those? Thanks.
@TouchLifeStudio3 жыл бұрын
@@MikeMcGeePhotography I have been using Pocket Wizzards with my Allien Bees, but with the Z6II I can not (bummer) as Pocket Wizzards have not updated their firmware to work with Z6II cameras.
@MikeMcGeePhotography3 жыл бұрын
@@TouchLifeStudio You should be able to use PocketWizard PlusX's with any camera, including the Z6ii without any issues since it's just a single pin "dummy popper" as I call them. My PocketWizard Flex TT5s have been updated with the e-release software and can even do High Speed Sync with the LINK strobe from Paul C. Buff, but that's as a receiver as I have never tried using a FlexTT5 as a trigger with the Z6ii. But the PlusX is definitely an option if you don't need High Speed Sync. The HUB Remote and The Raven are also PW options, just FYI. Cheers.

@@MikeMcGeePhotography Thx. I should see if I can updated the TT5 and mini TT1. Thanks for sharing the info. Much appreciated.
@MikeMcGeePhotography3 жыл бұрын
@@TouchLifeStudio Unfortunately, the Mini TT1 will not work and likely may never work due to the encryption and coin battery used. I think you can use a TT5 as a trigger and another TT5 as a receiver, provided they are both updated to the e-release software. But the easiest way is to just use a cheap single pin PlusX. :)

@@MikeMcGeePhotography thx, I will look into that.

I got my mannequin locally from Craigslist at the time. Check local Craigslist or FB Marketplace listings, or you can buy them online as well.

I'm not really a KZbinr, as I'm a full-time photographer and focus on my shooting/business. But if there are topics that need a video I'll make one. I just haven't had the need honestly as my current setup with the Raven + DigiBees + the Z6ii is rock solid.
