I actually took lessons from Dave Rhoades and Tom Rossi. Tom told me to quit my day job and become a pro. That was 25 years ago lol. Hal Mix told my wife he would train her for free. Then he passed...RIP Hal you were one of the greatest. My wife and I are older now and just play for fun after raising a family. Interesting note: my wife beat Earl Strickland in an exhibition match of 8 ball. I taught her how to play. I have tremors and don't shoot too well anymore, but I won't stop playing. I appreciate your videos and will continue to watch them.

This drill did get me frustrated and made my confidence go to crap. But I finally realized, just like you said, I didn't have the shot down and wasn't in full control of the cue ball. Went back to basics and now run this drill successfully 4 out of five times. I love your channel and have been playing for a long time. Got my own table about 6 months ago (finally) and your videos alone have improved my game greatly. You the man!

I've seen that drill with all the balls on the rails. It's actually a game from Mexico where my wife is from. I love your videos. They are very informative, and I appreciate you. Thank you for all you do to help us play better.

Looooooog rail shots are my Achilles heel! My father was brutal with billiard and snooker shots! We had a table in the basement. So I got schooled almost daily! 😂 2 blocks from Cushion & Cue in Livonia Michigan. Good times!

Solid tesching and PRACTICAL advice. Game play is not a drill. And kudos about drills not being a test. That's also practical advice for anything one learns. You got a new subscriber!

Thanks again, I have to push back, though, I'm not a decent player😊. Today showed how inconsistent I am. Run, miss, and then just bad. Few games later, good again. I did win a fair bit, but sometimes I was awful. I do love that challenge, though.

Brian when you have a up the rail shot when you have to pass the side pocket and your only thing is making the ball not position should you put a touch of inside English using center ball to make it hug the rail and go straight up the rail?
@FXBilliards3 ай бұрын
Given that situation, I would avoid using any English if possible. The shot is difficulty enough.
@PoolSkills3 ай бұрын
Brian it is a very difficult shot whether is a 30 or 70 degree cut I don’t remember where I saw the thought there. I know it is very small amount of inside maybe less than 1/2 tip. I like center as much as possible.

what is helping english and does it change?
@FXBilliards3 ай бұрын
Helping English means cue balll is spinning opposite its direction around the table. It’s spinning counter clockwise while it moves clockwise around the table.
