Station 8 can give a lot of people trouble. However, Station 8 targets can be easily broken by application of a very systematic technique. This clip shows you how to use the technique to see bird-shoot bird. The Station which, is located directly between the high and low houses, is shot as two single targets. C

The best way to learn to hit the #8 High House bird is 1. Follow tips like this video 2. Do not try to learn this bird at the end of each skeet round. Instead take a full box of ammo to the station, turn your brain off and shoot by hand to eye coordination alone. As soon as the muzzle catches up to the bird pull the trigger. You will eventually hit the 3rd or 4th bird. Once you learn how that groove feels shoot 8 or 10 more and you will have it wired.

@ukdotcom In this video we are demonstrating American Skeet. So the gun is allowed to be pre-mounted. Hope this helps you with any confusion!

I must be a bit of a slow learner, took me three years after watching this video to get that 25 straight. Came back because I'm still missing 8 on occasion, one of the things keeping me from my first 100 straight.

That is the best advise for station 8, I have heard or seen, on KZbin, too. As a novice to clay pigeon shooting (700 rounds through in the last 4 weeks) I was struggling a bit with quick gun mounting and target acquisition. On slow and far away sporting targets both things worked fine. Spent today 3 boxes of shells at 2 yards behind station 8 (away from houses) following as precisely as I could this instruction. And it worked 👍. I wouldn't say it is foolproof, but he keeps it real simple. At the end I was hitting 6-8 targets in a row. Thanks, liked and subscribed.

* What you want to do is to start your gun barrel out away from the trap opening at a level as close to, but not obstructing, the path or flight of the target. If you hold to close to the opening the target will get a jump on you. If you hold to far out from the opening you'll have to bring your gun barrel back in line with the path of the target. I think it's a mistake to look directly into the trap house opening. Most eyes will only be able to pick up the target once that target has emerged from that dark opening. At that point you want to be able to start to move your gun barrel with the target. Don't get ahead of the target, but come from a little behind, and take the shot as you cover the target. To important things to remember, keep that barrel moving, and do not lift your head off of the stock.

Yeah but this isn't SCTP or AIM or anything like that is how normal skeet shooting is besides, he didn't have any shells in the gun and it was an O/U where it's very easy to tell if the gun is safe or not when the breach is opened...

Before I started shooting low gun, I held right in the window. Worked well. I may try it your way to see if it’s better for me. Also left handed by the way.

Watched all your videos the other night and put them into practice yesterday. For my second time shooting skeet managed to get a 10 and 13 out of 25 for the 2 sessions. Also managed to cop a piece of clay to the face from the high house spot 7. Split my nose open pretty good. Glad i was wearing glasses.

In Scandinavia we cant keep the gun ready in the trap position before we call for the bird in skeet. We have to keep the stock an the hip level.

* That's the way skeet was originally shot by the Americans that invented the game to simulate actual hunting situation, but as they grew older they changed the rules. So, IMO, recording high scores became more important than how to properly mount their firearms. In the States we use to call this, perhaps they still do, " sissy skeet ". Low gun is the proper way to shoot skeet.
