Practical Photography's Louise Carey heads to the Dorset coast armed with a toy camper van and a glorious sunset. The challenge? To combine landscapes and toys to create an optical illusion.

This is my newest idea for a project. Taking miniatures and putting them in front of great landscapes. I didn't even know there was a name for it. Thanks for all the tips.

Great one this was fun and a nice nod to Kim Leuenberger's style of forced perspective. Love your content great work!

Optical illusion worked in the beginning, but not in the grass, even when you are at the same level as the grass... I`m curious why you have the ISO so high? Would it not make sense to have the lowest possible ISO, while shooting against the sunrise? Great location for landscape :)

Wonderful ! Your shot at 3:46 is extremely beautiful with the light showing through the windows of the van. It gives extreme realism along with the wet beach (rock) as you stated in your tutorial. Thank you! Your are an expert photographer and teacher. Cheers Louise !

Looks like 1/32 scale but I wouldn't get hung up on scales too much as its all about shooting distance. My garden railway is 1/22.5 and I use 1/24 scale vehicles. All about distance and lighting. Experiment.... There are no limits!

Are you afraid of flash? How are u going to expose for the sky and casually say ur going to fix the cars exposure in PS? Thats stupid cuz you are just gonna introduce noise if u just add flash or bouce light back to the toy you could have a much more dynamic image and really accentuate bothe the toy and the background

A few of the shots give away that it’s a toy, and then there’s the fatuous comment about the van looking as it’s off for a sense of adventure, how this conclusion is reached isn’t clear. It’s just wishy washy pretentious bullshit talk.
