I was JUST looking at a robe in a local store that was really pretty, but expensive. I looked at the tag for the fabric (which I usually never do, but I started watching your videos about 2 weeks ago) and saw that it was 100% polyester. I immediately put it back. I was like, "Shi would say that's too much money for a full polyester piece." We pickin' up what you puttin' down, you're helping us!!

I sew so I’m super picky about what type of fabrics are in the clothes I buy. I know what fabric costs. It’s ridiculous the amount of money a lot of these brands charge for polyester. I REFUSE, I could be wearing silk or wool for the same cost. It actually helps me buy less.

Never underestimate the power of a capsule wardrobe. It has saved me money. Been working on mine for 3 years. The cotton, the silk, the linen, the wool, the cashmere ALL make me so happy as I purchase elevated basics that last. No Shein clothes paired with a YSL ova here. I also ensure I keep a wishlist and try hard to stick to it and keep my luxury handbags at 8 or less. No need for all these handbags and nothing to put in em 💃🏾🤣🤣🤣. Loved the vid girl!

Great topic! I wanted to add my two cents about natural fibers; I used to stay away from cashmere, merino wool, silk and linen (and all the combos of each) because I was so busy, and knew that hand washing and/or frequent trips to the dry cleaners were not going to happen. But here is the thing - I thought you had to wash after each use because I usually wore polyester or other synthetics, and they trapped odors. It is literally like wrapping your arm pits in plastic. I am not particularly sweaty, but the synthetic knits will make you think you are. After finally investing in good quality, natural fibers, I find I can wear them multiple times, and there is no odor whatsoever. Natural fibers allow your body to breathe, and don’t trap odors like synthetics do. And to freshen them up, I just use my handy dandy garment steamer. You can get a handheld steamer on Amazon for around 40 dollars, and I just keep it under my bathroom sink. So it takes just minutes to give a quick steam to get out any wrinkles in linen, or freshen up any natural fibers garment. And finally, it is human nature to take better care of expensive things. Unlike my fast fashion clothes, I am careful with my quality knitwear. They get inspected, spot cleaned, steamed, and carefully stored. It becomes habit to take care of your items this way, and it instills an appreciation of fewer, but better things.

Thank you for this content. I’m realizing that as someone who grew up in a very working class family, I never knew how to shop for quality, all I knew was how to shop a bargain. I was taught to “make my money stretch”. If I had $100 to spend on shoes, I’d most likely get 2-3 pairs of cheap shoes instead of spending that $100 on one good pair. Now that I earn more I just find myself spending more in total on bargain clothes instead of spending that money on nicer quality clothes. Learning to shop quality over quantity is a whole journey for me.

It's easy for People Who have already travelled this Path, experienced it, have eaten lots of styles, designs, brands, made mistakes, activated certain aspects of their personality ect...yes, then it's easy & simple to stop Shopping & act wisely. For others, a Certain Amount of Time, Money & Experience is needed to Actually Travel the Path , then InsideOut , the Realisations about Self are taken place Naturally. Therefore...Your Hunger for whatever means there is Certain NEED for Certain Steps to be taken. It's Good to Listen to those who have actually made the Process , have already discovered Their Personal Aspects, Style, Preferences, Behaviours, it's ok! Great to Listen & Learn ..Incorporate ...yet, if there is this irrational NEED, then It's the Rational Speaking of the Wise Not Hungry one against an Irrational Personal Need of the Developing Personality. I have been on a downsizing journey for some years. Smaller home, less stuff and it takes time to unfold & rewrap. I feel less pressure to maintain “stuff” because I have a whole lot less. Curating the new items for my closet will take time, but right now all that is left in my closet are things that fit my lifestyle. Not the “fantasy lifestyle” (a term I heard KZbinr Audrey Coyne use). This term hit me across the face like a pie 🥧. I feel even better about any beautiful new additions I will add along the way into my cute little closet. My physical well being has come into play at a higher level of importance (changed my diet completely) and it has improved my metal & emotional well being. When I put on my clothes I enjoy them so much more because they are things I really love. 💕 This was an incredible video and I’m sending you positive vibes it gets tons more views. 🙌🏼

THIS!! You preached tuhday, my good sis!! All through my late twenties and early thirties, shopping WAS A SPORT! Coming home from the mall with allll thee bags was the intent. I was doing Saturday fashion "hauls" in my mirror before it was ever considered to be monetized video content for the Tube (hey, Payless 👋🏼). I will say I'm a recovering shopaholic now; I'm not quite there yet, because I have a wardrobe of great abundance, but I'm in the purging process and I'm more intentional about what I'm buying to curate my wardrobe. Fabrication and quality is uber important in a purchase. And so I'm slowly replacing lower quality shoes and clothes and keeping a list of pieces that will round out my wardrobe and more define the woman I've become today. Working from home for the last two years has challenged my perception of my personal style and I'm trying to evolve in that space. And you're wearing that pink!!! ❤

Thank you for this amazing video! The SERMON during the last section, wow, blew me away. Great job! I love your mantra of shopping with intention, and it's something I've also been practicing over the last two years. I like to wear my clothes until they really wear out. As I declutter my closet and replace worn-out items with better quality things, they must meet a specific need. Some stuff hasn't been replaced at all, either because I don't need it anymore, or because I haven't found a replacement that is good enough. There will be no settling for crappy clothes in 2022, no maam!

you look so pretty in that pink color!! You are preaching today about style and trends their is a big difference for sure. I dress with style and not trends so much unless it can become friends with my wardrobe and it fits my unique classic style. Alot of people are shopping as part of a symptom of underlying issues. You are on point.

It truly NEEDED to be said!! I was like how she know me lol, I'm on a no spending of WANTS journey so far so good. I agree with you when you said you have to find the ROOT of the spending, and I found my issues behind it having something NEW fulfilled that MOMENT but the issues were still there. So I'm working on my issues and excited to see how much I will SAVE!! Thank you for Sharing your testimony!!

Last month, I vowed to purchase quality over quantity. Because I went to a few fast fashion stuffs, and it fit weird. I took it all back and what I did keep the button popped off, my time is just as valuable as I’m going to take it back. Now, less is more! This video has just honed in this point. 😍 thank you

Yessss ma'am 👏🏽 I just love this because it definitely resonated with me! I had to do this and it felt really good! I'm always down for a good deal but understand quality will cost more! I don't really carry the luxury bags much that I have now, so I won't purchase another until I'm positive it's what I want and will utilize it! In the meantime time i definitely will go on a trip and hang out or entertain in.

6:40 To be honest, going for cashmere right away might be to much of a first step IMO. Either it might be too difficult financially, or you can end up buying "cheap cashmere", costing less but made with bad quality fibers that won't last long and hate being washed. I would recommend as a first step to aim for merino wool, which is less pricey (and trendy), but is great to regulate temperature and lightweight, you just won't get the extra softness of cashmere. But this WILL last and convince you to never go back to polyester ;) And aim for cashmere next !

@@kaishadufresne you should try other brands for your merino pieces, I wash all of mine on wool program in the washing machine and never had a problem! ;)

Your commentary is rooted in love and compassion. Thank You!!!! As someone who STRUGGLES with impulse shopping (I’ve done it all my life), your points are vital and necessary to me. My beloved has often ministered to me about the need to shop and how it makes him crazy. My impulses have definitely decreased over the years but I am not cured by any strength of the imagination. You don’t know me from a can of paint, but you were all of up in my “bizness”. So, THANK YOU for being transparent and willing to serve up DELIVERANCE!!!! I’ll keeping watching and supporting!!! Wow. This really impacted me. It’s so much of what I’ve been thinking about and being convicted about. I’m not a luxury person at all but the “little” things add up trying to fill those voids when I know full well they will not. They detract from my other goals and dreams for my family and myself. They make me feel worse and worry more. Thank you for this. I can do better. I will do better.
