If you use an extreme threshold on the compression sidechain, as you did in your video, it will cause extreme ducking that diffuses the kick. You only need a slight duck (three or fewer decibels), which works fine for me anyway. But thanks for the Envelope Follower refresher. I saw a 2015 tutorial using the Envelope Follower for Dessing, but I couldn't find that tutorial, so yours worked.

I love the envelope follower. Great tutorial but I am unable to map to a non-native (non-Ableton) VST parameter. I click map, fo to the plugin (e.g. NI Reaktor's Monark) and click Cut Off, go back to Envelope Follower and nothing gets mapped. The map button is just blinked still. Any ideas?

Use "configure" on the plugin and select the button you want to map. Map the parameter with envelope follower! cheers

You have eq parameter on compressor, dude. And this method cause a significant latency in most cases.

Well dude, the internal side chain on the compressor sets the frequency the compressor listens too. But! It also compresses the entire frequency spectrum. So, it's not the same. As for latency.. I have no issues. I will investigate to try and recreate the issue. How or when did you get the latency issue? Edit: Solution here is to use TDR Nova and set it as an external sidechain.
