I like your OXO demo. I've always described it as looking through a straw that's even when straight but when bent, one side is convex and the other concave. Happy #Slamuary!

Great Video on Slamruary and removing body tube bends. Please do a video on making a tube round, that should be very interesting!

I think it's important to mention a main cause of bent body tubes - that being old cases with a end block which supports the top end of the sax by the end plug. Happy #Slamuary!

Yes! Get yourself a good case to keep your body from getting bent!

Can you do a video on slamming the bell when it is misaligned? I saw a tech do this once where the pads didn't seem to be lining up, or something.

Sounds like a great trick for aligning bell keys! We'll be going over aligning bells and bodies in our Sax Dent Work Course too!

Could you do this with a metal clarinet?

Great helpful info. #slamruary to you guys. Your volume a little lower than most other stuff playing in my browser.

I've always put my light down the bell to sight the body tube. I'll have to try going through the bow next time. #slamruary

Can a saxophone get bent inside the case if the case is kind of soft inside?
@MusicMediccom10 күн бұрын
It can be bent or damaged in any style case if the case takes a shock. The level of shock or damage can vary on how well the case is constructed and how well it keeps the instrument from moving. An instrument in a loose fitting case can be damaged even if it's set down too hard repeatedly.

Does straightening a body tube improve tone and response? Or is this purely a mechanical contingency?

Can't imagine thumping a costly saxophone like your forging any softer material, as you would a bronze item. Guessing it takes a fair amount of practice to get it as near right as possible. Great video. Don't think I'll be slamming my Alto anytime soon, as I'm still struggling with getting post straight and making all the valves seal perfectly. Makes my eyes hurt just to ponder the whole process. #Slamruary

Why not use the body mandrel? (The one in pieces) Much more control and no chance to damage the reciever.
@MusicMediccom2 жыл бұрын
We do use the mandrels in the initial stages of dent work and to check for straightness in this area of dent repair. Because the metal has a memory we find it more effective to shock or force it back in place to truly straighten it.
