Is it hard to hit a target with your pellet rifle? Maybe it needs to be sighted in. Mr. Lawrence gives some advice on sighting-in a pellet rifle with scope and good safety advice when shooting your pellet rifle.

With my Hatsan 95, I needed a better scope than the factory one. I called Pyramyd Air and they recommended a number of different brands/prices for use on higher powered springer pellet rifles. I put a Center Pointe 4 x 32 mildot scope on and have had good performance. My Crosman 1000EX sports a 3 - 9 x 32 CV Life scope, jury is still out on that one. Hope you have good luck finding a satisfactory scope.

First of all, thanks for the video. Next, when you are sighting in on a target, whether biological or paper, do not set the barrel on anything. It will cause the barrel to flex and throw off where your pellet will strike. Springers use a "artillery" hold on the fore stock. Use your forward hand to cradle the stock not grip it. As far as coyotes go, I would not recommend the pellet rifle. There have been shooters that have taken out coyotes with a pellet gun, but those were usually .22 or higher and at really close range. A .22 rimfire would be the minimum, or .22 magnum. There are tons of videos on KZbin about hunting coyotes for pest control. Thanks again for the video.

Often, when you get a new air rifle, and mount the scope, it's going to be way off. That&s why my first shots are going to be close in, like 15 feet maybe,. If the shots are on paper at that distance, then adjust the scope to center it in windage. Then, you want it to shoot a bit low at that close target, because the pellet is still flying upwards. If you center it at the close target in elevation, it's going to be way high at say, 20 yards. Get it sighted in at whatever distance you want, and then the fun begins. Then it's time to shoot groups with all kinds of different pellets. Your gun will tell which pellets it likes best. You've chosen a nice air rifle, though River does not make air rifles. They just put the name on them. Have fun, and show those coyotes whose boss!

Could be the scope has failed. Air rifle scopes are known to go bad. The sudden jerk of the spring firing is very hard on them. If buying a new scope is out of the question u might try barely loosing the screws to the back scope mount....slipping a very thin shim between the gun and scope mount and tightening the screws back down. U have now caused the scope to tilt down some......if it shoots too low maybe then the scope will adjust it back up. Hard to say if it will work. First thing is to see if u can hit 3 shots in a group. If u can't group 3 shots even though they are high then your scope is loose from the inside....kind of like floating all around.....

I just bought this gun yesterday at Walmart. Air Hawk Elite II . I mounted the scope and looked through it, but can't see through it. Did I do something wrong when attaching the scope or what. It's my first high powered pellet gun like this. I looked in the scope before I attached it to the gun and it was fine, but now once I attached it I can't see anything. There are no scope directions whatsoever that came with this gun. Can anybody please help? What am I doing wrong?
@laffilmfest3759
@laffilmfest3759 Жыл бұрын
There is a thing called eye releaf, so it's better to mount the scope loose enough to be able to slide it forward or back, then shoulder the rifle like u are going to shoot it and look through the scope , sometimes just sliding it a little forward or backwards brings things into view...have some one help u to slide it so u can concentrate on just looking through the scope, be extreme care the rifle is not cocked and ready to fire...sounds like this may help...once u can see through the scope tighten it down...then check it periodically

Jim from Michigan, mine shoots bullseye one time next shot doesn't hit the plate. It's all over the place. Gun recommends aluminum pellets.45 might go to heavier lead.

Jim Novotny thanks for watching! It's my understanding spring pellet rifles do just that especially as the spring ages, piston powered rifles tend to hold the pattern a bit better.......
