Im glad i could help! Theres some mistakes to make when it comes to gearing, but definitely be sure to review over your logs to make sure youre performing your rotation correctly too! Comparing yourself to someone doubling your damage on the same class can be a useful tool!

Im not sure how id begin to explain looking through logs, a lot to do with different classes and tons of stuff, www.archon.gg/wow/articles/help/getting-started Here is the start of the help article from warcraftlogs, which is a site people use to upload logs from the in-game combat logging, all of your casts/damage/buffs/etc. are all tracked and you can compare yourself to any other logs that are performing better than you, This article will explain how to do everything from combat log your own fights, as well as how to navigate through all of the menus and see your stuff! Hope this gets you started in the right direction!
