Went to the range today and concentrated on; (1) make a comfortable turn and get the club “behind” me. Then (2) move to the finish position in balance with no regard about how I got there as quickly as I could. Hold the finish for at least 3 seconds. Lots of nice shots and very stress free. Perfect? No, but generally more consistent and certainly easier on my over analyzing brain! Came home with no aches or pains...I am 74 years old. Thanks!

Some golf teachers have NOT REALISED that a brain can only deal with a limited amount of information in a lesson. As a retired teacher I fully appreciate that too much information can prevent progress. Also advice has to be geared to each individual golfer. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Great advice as usual Julian. We have too many thoughts as we go to swing the club. But it’s difficult to make the mind almost blank. We are told how important the finish is. My current coach has just told me I need to do this. But been playing for 7 years now (I’m a Senior ). And try as I might I’m a bit like that lady you mentioned. It’s hit so job done. The brain so far stops me doing the classic finish 🤷♂️

Try this exercise Rod, just before impact look towards your target. It may take a few goes and tee the ball up slightly and see it your finish changes .

Julian, I’m new to your instruction videos. I find the instructions and the swing very easy. One problem for me is keeping my balance during the end of the back swing and the finish of the forward swing. Any suggestions?
@JulianMellor2 жыл бұрын
Hi, glad that you’ve found my channel and hopefully you’ve found the videos helpful. Firstly, it’s important that you check your balance at set up as your weight maybe towards your heels or toes. It’s difficult to say without seeing you swing. Check to see that you’re not stood too far away from the golf ball as this will affect your balance in the back swing and make sure you are not keeping your head down through impact as this will affect your balance in the follow through. Hope this helps. And should you need any more assistance please don’t hesitate to ask

Your downswing is so smooth and fluid that I can’t detect which part of the body moves first. I tend to plant the lead heel to initiate the downswing. What are your thoughts Julian?
