Why on earth haven’t you song all the psalms 1-150 and uploaded them?? That would be a huge blessing for people and a worship given to God.

At the end, when you sang it in a “boring” way (undecorated?) it sounded very good to me. Not boring, strong, solemn, plain perhaps better - plainness can be more humble more sacred. Thank you very much. This would be perfect before Easter. Very beautiful very solemn just good for a range of Churches - I would like this in the Anglican or RC. Beautiful English phrasing = making the words holy. God bless you amen Glad to meet you here on a Sunday morning, I will elect you to the angels if you are not already there.

i think its because hes a professional. someone who isnt as seasoned as he is would sound plain and "boring". but yeah basically what he said

This was very helpful. Loved it. You should just do some simple videos like this one with all the psalms. Also, you have a beautiful voice.

Actually, you are quite correct there, most people who sing chant don’t seem to realise that you sing it in a style that matches free form speech. I prefer to sing Gregorian or Ambrosian chant rather than modern chant. Regarding breathing in Gregorian Chant, there are small bar lines to indicate where you should breathe and punctuation often does not indicate where a breath is taken. One example of this is Vidi aquam sung throughout Paschaltide. Interestingly something that is not realised (especially with Gregorian chant) when you come to the an end of a phrase, you do not change the position of your mouth, but continue the next phrase with your mouth and facial expression exactly in the same position that you have ended the previous phrase. That is why you see monks in Mediæval art looking a bit odd when gathered around the Ambo chanting the psalms and it is for that very reason. I was taught Gregorian Chant by the Benedictine order and now assist with the training of novices in chant who are entering in to the Order. One final point to make, or indeed ask as a question. The Psalm you used as an example ,which is the Psalm for Passion Sunday, here wishing the RC church in the UK, we number this as Ps 21, to us Ps 22 it is The Lord is my Shepherd. The denomination who would refer to Pss 22 and 23 would be the Lutherans or other denominations. Within America, so all denominations refer to the numbering as such? Our response to Ps 21 (22) would be My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? So this is another difference. P,ease, I only ask this question as I am genuinely interested and for no other reason. Certainly I don’t think it is incorrect.

Me too! Me too! I’m fascinated! I’ve read so much of the Rus’ and now Syriac. The word for ‘Spirit’ is ‘Wind’ and is female! (I’m not saying God IS a woman, only that there is an aspect of me in the Trinity!) Bless you and your search for the Truth - the consort of the Light! Be well!

My (perhaps ignorant) question is, How do you come up with the melody?

in the Orthodox Church there is a specific method using some "signs" which we call "voices" or "sounds" there is a common music ladder which is almost the same (has 8 notes) During the Orthodox Liturgy we chant with voices only we don't use instruments, but you need to know Ancient Greek to chant. The Byzantine music is based on the first centuries hymnology and tradition. Try Wikipedia to have more ...

Do not forget that throughout the centuries there was ONE church which was divided unfortunatelly in 1054 a.c. We pray for reuninon against all heretics and protestants ...😄

I expected plainchant for some reason, ha! Contemporary "chants" generally tend to drag considerably. Perhaps consider touching on that in your next video and how to deal with it.

Absolutely no disrespect meant, but I cannot find a version of Psalm 22 that matches up with these words exactly.

@@ifunanyaagoziemfrancesco2511 The current RCC’s mass is called the Novus Ordo Missae. Or, New Order Mass. it was introduced at the council of Vatican 2 back in the 60’s (70’s?) and it is NOT a Christian practice. The current RCC are not following a Christian liturgy. Those who choose to reject this mass and the current popes are called Sedevecantists. That should give you a good start to do your own research.
