Trying this little tweak out and it is helping to get some of those slightly higher notes out. Been awhile since I've sang much of anything or practiced exercises, but the ab work lately is helping all this to come back. Tried your tip on Kamelot - Karma and Kamelot - March of Mephisto. It definitely helps even things out a bit.

The key is to focus on a vowel while you sing so you stop shifting to so many vowels. If you want it to be in Ah focus on that. If you want a bright tone focus on EE. This is also how you fix pitch issues.

David . I think you should try that an octave lower .recordings appear always higher because of all the sound processing ,sound (Mic ,headphones , compressor, reverb , delay , chorusing , preamp, eq)

I will say - don’t always smile like for high notes. For high notes with certain vowels you want to do the opposite of smile, you want to keep your mouth more closed on the wide spectrum and open your mouth big vertically (drop your jaw). It keeps your larynx aligned When I learned this my range increased from an F# to a D!!!

My teacher says the exact opposite though. You should never open your mouth sideways, you should drop your jaw so air can easily escape your lungs, while you're singing. If you smile, you dampen the sound. Look at people singing opera, or look at freddy mercury (who trained his voice similiar to that method) for reference.

Wide mouth makes a brighter sound , which is what he's going for here ! Mouth dropped is definitely more of a classical thing ! ALTHOUGH you can open your mouth wider when you're singing SUPER HIGH coloratura soprano notes ! Widening your mouth can hinder your singing because it can cause the muscles to not work properly , but he wasn't spreading tooooo too much . Just making a brighter sound !

I don't think it should affect your singing since it doesn't affect the make up of your throat, and your mouth should be open when you sing so the way your teeth fit together shouldn't matter. For the record I have a bad overbite, lol.

I Have greate question So I want to be a really greate singer, In my public school I take chorus but i feel like they dont really teach focuse on what i need, I go to a separate Music School where I take piano and bass guitar, now that's cool it's only once a week. in that's school there is really great contemporary singing teacher, he heard me sing and he said that he could help me improve. but I can only take 2 classes so if I would to join his class I would have to leave either piano or bass guitar. now the question is should I change one of the instruments for more vocal lessons even though I Already take chorus in my school monday through friday? and if i do will i improve that much more faster? I'm trying to form a rock band so is leaving an instrument a good idea? will i know less music theory?
