Rafi is Above All Why ? First his specialty is that Voice does not sound bad on high notes, it does not look like someone is screaming. Second He Could Put Emotions in Every Single Word Whereas Others Can put in one Line. He was Brilliant at low pitch songs as well. Third ..He Could Mould Voice According to The Feeling of Every Single Word. Fourth ..Crystal Clear Voice Fifth ..While singing a line, he could immediately come on high notes in the middle and He did not have to take a long breath. While other singers take a break then try reach on high notes Seventh ..Rafi was Masterd in All Type Songs and Singing like Comedy, Fast Number, Low pitch, High Pitch, Ghazal, Classical, Qawwali, Funny, Western, Folk Types.

OK. Manna Dey jaise mahaan gaayak jisko koi touch nahi kar sakta, unhone ek baat kahi. Ki "Rafi saab jo kar sakte the hum nahin kar sakte. Bhagwan ne jo Rafi saab ko diya hum ko nahi diya hai." Rafi saab khud bolte the ki " Yeh to God gift hai jee." Still my limited human mind tries to understand and amaze after all these years how Rafi sings. I totally agree to this point sir that his singing is mostly not understood 100% by the listeners. We are able to capture main parts of his singing but there are lots of lots of variations that probably Rafi sahab himself was also not able to repeat or reproduce. Reason - well we all know and sense that his soul use to sing not he. In technical words, the quality of a digital picture depends on number of pixels it uses, and analogous to this is Rafi sahab's sur, voice,expressions, capability to sync up with taal etc. which have so many granular parts that it's so difficult to produce them again because our brains are not capaable to remember or recall all those pixels or granular parts when we listen and try to sing his songs. What a singing inspiration and grammar he has given us as a treasure. Let us enjoy true music.

Your analysis is very good Jayesh Ji and you sing very well also.I just want to add a few more points for better singing: 1. Find your own scale to sing any song of any singer comfortably 2. Find your own voice which sounds the same irrespective of which singer's song you are singing 3. Make your voice metallic and free from any defects or 'kharaash' while singing at all pitches and smoothly take it to high or low notes at your wish.And it comes by practice only 4. Do not miss the sur or notes of the song and produce them clearly.For this, you may need to listen the songs catefully at slow speed in KZbin or as per the sound player 5. To produce the same feelings and expressions of the original singers keep listening and singing the original song continuouly for at least a week or even more time. 6. Record your songs in simple devices like your mobile, if you sound good and you like to listen your own singing then you have won half the battle 7. Record and practice your songs with karaoke music to check if you have really learned the song 8. If you can sing one song perfectly even after spending 3 months or so you have now got good understanding of music otherwise continue the practice 9. The last point is that singing is an art and not a science, so there is no formula for good singing. Some people are born with this talent.
