Practice practice practice No other short cuts I myself have lot of flaws due to lack of dedication The best technique i know is to start singing saptaswaras in proper sruti and in first kaal ( onnam kalam) in adi taalam. Pick up mayamalavagowla raagam Its notation is very equidistant and hence ideal Sustain every swaras and sing with total layam the aarohanam and avarohanam multiple times for half an hour every morning. Then sing akaram ekaram & ukaram too slowly. Keep the same tempo for a month at least. Dont rush for speed. Next month start with 2 nd kalam 3rd month try 3rd kalam 4 rt month go for 4 rt kalam Don't go for octoves during this time. By end of 4rt month your voice and grip on swaras and gamakas shall become rock solid. From fifth month start attempting mantrastyai too till panchamam. Also tarastyai till panchamam only. 2 months this way. Hence in 6 months you should be fluent in swaras and gamakas in two octaves from mantrastayi panchamam to tarastyai panchamam. One more important thing. Select only a sruti (scale you are comfortable in) C or C# or B whatever you feel comfortable. Kindly dont blindly imitate the pitch of film singers. Sometimes it may be very high for you or may be very low. If you imitate away from your comfort zone, vocal chord may get scratched and quality of voice and confidence may go down. This is all i know. Dedicated face to face training with an accomplished guru, in my opinion is essential. Avoid learning from youtube or fb if possible.

He was a singer with a moderate range and absolutely no training. But his feelings while singing was so sincere and he was so naturally gifted.
