For everyone’s information, I’m almost sure there is a fourth vocal part on top of these three. If you listen closely to the chorus someone (probably Paul) is faintly singing George’s harmony line an octave up. Adds another nice dimension to these amazing harmonies.
@lennon1252 Жыл бұрын
Interesting trivia, Lennon's vocal is double-tracked on the stereo version, but single-tracked on the mono version. Also George Martin is playing piano on the track. 😊

I don't see any notes in the description box for the vocal roles, so I guess I'll start the debate. Didn't John sing the higher harmony and Paul took the lower on the chorus? That's what it sounds like to me...
@tommyl.dayandtherunaways8206 жыл бұрын
John's definitely singing the higher harmony double tracked, and I believe George is singing the lower. I can't really hear Paul, maybe he was singing in unison with George.
@bradnorman94305 жыл бұрын
Yes - John sings the (higher) lead during the chorus (“Tell me why...”), with Paul’s ‘moving’ harmony below John’s lead vocal, while George supplies the bottom, almost monotone 3rd vocal, with the notes A....(tell me why)..F#-A (you cried)...G (and why you)..A (lied to me). Paul takes the higher harmony, above John, in the verses (“...but you left me sittin’ on my own...”)

Very good! Great singing. Love the kitty too :) Also shows when you hear a song for years, you prob don't know how all the harmonies worked together so well. When it's seperated like this, us non muscians can hear/see this now! Classic talent from John Lennon!

Good ear. One thing though- they anticipate the first word "tell" on some choruses, comes in a little early. Btw, the bass line here is crazy good.

I think you've really got this one right! We just did a version with me singing John as the high part and the falsetto. Our Paul is now doing the middle and it is not sounding quite right. The version which I want to go back to will be to have me singing John in the middle, plus use a vocal harmonizer to add in the double track sound to unison with our Paul and have George low. :) I'll send you a mp3 of our recordings so you can hear it too. Won't be till next Sat. though.

E magari! Bellissimo!! Grazie per i video, sono spaziali!

Wow Galeazzo, way to go, going to email a few of these links to an old friend with whom I once did a 2 part harmony of IF I FELL, Just curious about one thing, why do we often see the mic "hanging down" (like yours) in the studio, but very very rarely like this on stage? Can only recall one instance of a hanging down mic on stage and that was for Don Henley of the Eagles (the drummer) and I suspect it was to not have the mike interfere with his drumming.

I think it's Paul who sings the middle harmony in the chorus. Listen to the recording and hear the way he pronounces "cried". It's got that very snub-nosed sound you hear in Paul's voice.

Galeazzo, you should organize a vocal band to go on the road, because your Beatles songs are really, very , very good and the world would pay a lot to see you perform the songs that are not being appreciated, because there is no group to perform them, as you do Certainly, there is demand for a group that sings like the Beatles and with John and George now gone, it's not possible that the original band can be assembled ever again Can you do a tour, if I arranged the gigs?
