thank you for emphasizing the being in control and also building confidence by controlling speed. I'm tired of instructors telling me that I just have to stop being afraid of speed. I don't mind speed but I don't feel in control so why would I want to go faster? This was very helpful

I've had lots of lessons in various resorts and no instructor has ever talked about this. I thought it was all about turning and going from edge to edge all the time. I know about side-slipping is but what you're showing is a real game-changer 🎉. I often feel lacking control, then get fearful and get in the 'backseat' then having even less control and having to keep stopping. Thanks very much for this.

This has to be the best video I’ve seen. I’m now using this technique of pivoting followed by edging (at the moment I choose). Because of your video, I’m now skiing down black diamond runs with confidence. Thank you!

That's exactly what I need to practice to gain more confidence as a very beginner, got to my first green slope yesterday and felt still out of control, afraid of the speed after finishing turns. thanks for the video.

Ugh. Just got home from Aspen Snowmass and totally could''ve used this the past few days! Just brilliant. I've always thought of the skid drill as staying on your uphill edges and then flattening off to make it easier to roll ankles into the turn, but no one has ever explained how "flattening" could actually slow you down in turns versus staying on your edge.

i just came back from the last ski trip of the season and realized i should earn some confidence and control,this video explains it perfectly ,but im afraid i will not be able to put these skills to practice until the next season...(amazing camera work by the way)

Great video. I have been working on this for the last few seasons it awesome

This is so dreamy! I could watch you ski all day😍so, am I understanding that the technique here is twisting to slide and skid to control speed instead of using edges?

I can't wait for ski season.. I found areas to slide down when the snow was really bad..

Where did you film this? Location? Country? Resort? Beautiful.

Nice video! How do you initiate these flat-ski turns?
@windspoint Жыл бұрын
It's basically the first part of a hockey stop or you can start gently flattening the skis on a traverse and letting them slip a little to get the feel for it then add more pivot and edge. Enjoy

Look up 'Falling leaf' drills as well. It seems trivial at first but as you get more comfortable with it you'll realize how critical these techniques are.

Do you also need massively oversized poles to improve?

Also, what kind of poles are these??
@maisonsport Жыл бұрын
these are touring poles, designed so you can grip them at different heights depending on if you are ascending or descending :)
