@@dark6.6E-34 negative, sounds weird but was flipping off a friends shoulders in a pool then one of the trys i come back down landing perfectly back on his shoulders tearing my acl out the bone cause i was still in a tucked position.

Great Work, This is my first summer into Longboarding. Granted i had skateboard in the past but Longboarding has felt so right LOVE GOING FAST. I only obese over longboarding i know most of the hills in Minnesota do to my job always take a Picture to capture the GPS coronates

I have been surf style longboarding on a 57 inch for 20 odd years and love getting speed and carving and nose riding but I have recently bought a couple of shorter downhill boards and really want to learn to coleman slide. This video should help alot. I have no problem with going faster but I,ll probably start low key to begin with. I,m nearly 50 but never too late to try new stuff. I have been surfing longboard for years too but being land locked I don't get to surf as much as I used to so skating is a great substitute when I,m not in ghe water.

Good stuff, living in Germany now for my internship abroad and I was amazed with all the height differences, I can coleman slide and do most glove down slides, going to practice stand up slides downhill next week

How do you get past the fear of losing traction? I ate it hard as a kid when my wheels went out from under me and ended up with pain through adolescence… Now it’s like a fear I have no matter what I’m on; board bike motorcycle etc… I am comfortable at high speeds and have so many good spots in my neighborhood but damn I just can’t get past this fear of my wheels going out and the board flying away from me 😭

I totally understand that fear I've had my fair share of spills from losing traction I would say start small and use your gloves try to get tiny slides just little skids then work your way up. Something I've learned is in action sports it's 25% ability and 75% mental. The more you try it the more you will get comfortable with it.

@@gavinsampson thanks man. I can do small frontside glove-down slides, but for whatever reason I have trouble getting palm down for the heelsides and am just super scared of the wheels going out. I’m getting better though, slowly. I have so much fun skating, I’m just having trouble pushing past that mental block. Thanks so much for the reply, love this video 🤙

Lots of pads, get good at knee + elbow pad sliding, even if it does slip out you'll be fine. When you get comfortable just take em off :D

If your learning to slide in flat ground just use a spitfire or skateboard wheels to practice sliding 👍

I like the shark wheels. I had a set of their 72mm 78a wheels, I’m still amateur but those engaged the slide relatively easy as well as regaining control whilst sliding 👍🏼 highly recommend those

I have some cage by orangatang coming. They are 73mm 41.5 mm 86A. As a beginner, should I be able to get them to slide?

To frontside powerslide you lean on your back foot more right? To push both wheels out more 90. It's just you said to lean on your front foot first.

@@zugisskates7262 front side you want to be anchored on your front foot so you don’t fall and use your back foot to kick it out. If you shift your weight to the back foot you’ll probably end up doing a 180 slide.

@@gavinsampson oh interesting, I skateboard normally, and with that you just transfer most of your weight to your back foot, bend your knees and push both feet out while leaning back, to get a nice long power slide. But I suppose the stance is slightly different with a longboard and the size, wheels and speed make a difference too.

@@zugisskates7262 exactly. It takes a couple tries to figure out what I mean but it’s the best way to give you control of the board and not be at the mercy of it. The longboard needs more than a street board does to get it to slide well. It also helps you bail better and not high side.

@@colemagallano700 the softness of the wheel does affect how easy it is to initiate a slide. I would recommend more like a 84a, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try it with what you got

I found that sector nine gloves are the most in stock pair and triple eight are the kneepads I got but I don't know if they are the best or not I haven't compared them to others

You can slide at low speeds it helps to have a good incline though

So I would skate normal,so my left foot would be right above the trucks,and does my left foot go above the trucks as well? Or a little farther up,and do I press down with the left foot and press hard an try to slide the board with the right?

Absolutely I would recommend jammerz from blood orange, easy hawgs from landyachtz , any wheel that's stone ground has a round edge and Is around 60-65 mm is gonna be easier to slide

Personnally I love and recommend the Free Wheels Quincy's, really long lasting and flat spot resistant, low price and slide really really easily !
