How To Sno-Seal Boots FAST!!!!

Howdy and welcome back to the channel. Each day is one more day closer to chasing Elk and Bear, so I need to get my boots ready! Sno-Seal and similar products are a great way to waterproof leather boots for all activities, not just chasing Elk and Bear in the mountains. But the process can be messy and slow, especially if you use a hairdryer to heat up your boots. Not to worry, as I have a method that is super easy and really fast. I choose to work with one boot at a time so the other boot is not cooling down too quickly before I'm ready. It's best to work with one boot at a time so that the second boot does not cool down while you are working with the first boot.

Thanks for commenting, but um, hard no, sorry. At the temperature that I said, as low as your oven can go, you are not gonna have that problem. Many pairs of boots later and all is fine.

Good idea re: the oven. Would putting boots in the hot-water cupboard over night before applying work too? If you want to drive the oil into the fibers and crevices then best to apply with a short brush.

I do mine each year, early summer when the product and boots can be warmed (and stay warm) by the sun. The leather should be warmed, massaged with a brush prior to treatment, and then apply Sno-seal with a small piece of towel or rag, paying particular attention around seams and stitching. I cover each boot and let the product soak in the warm boot. Best thing to do is not wait until the last minute. Neither I nor my wife, would feel comfortable exposing our cooking surfaces to the chemicals that could be released from heating a boot in a kitchen appliance.

At only 170 degrees Fahrenheit the boot is just getting warm enough to soak in the so-seal. It’s not even close to being hot enough to release any sort of “harmful chemicals” from a leather boot… I mean goodness, oven cleaner… now there is a toxic chemical
