The “rippling effect” is literally from you rolling up the wet jeans and pressing the water out. If you just hang them while dripping wet that won’t happen. I’ve been wearing raw denim for about 20 years and I’ve never seen that. Also, perfect length on those. Nice job!

I usually iron them wile wet on the leg to bring back some length. It worked well for me as 34 length ends up exactly the same as yours do or a bit shorter un ironed. I especially need to do to my denim shirts. There i manage to bring back qlmost a full cm

@@derekdoeschannelI put in a bit of fabric softener and vinegar in my first soak, denim came out soft, and i feel the softener helped prevent some shrink, i dunno.

Thanks, I don't think they're quite that but probably 12". These are vintage jeans that sit at your natural waist, not hips.

Yes, drying outside is fine. That's how they did it in 1973 so it should be good today too.

once its fully dry. i use a hair dryer to make sure the pockets and fly area get extra heat so there isn't a single area even marginally wet

Sanforized is more then presoaked. It’s stretched steamed and occasionally treated to minimize shrinkage. One/Once washed is not the same procedure as sanforization.

7:49 what are your thoughts on doing a bathtub soak while wearing the denim?

I did it once with a pair of LVC's. Although the experience was fun to do, it's a bit of a pain to just lay in the tub for 20-30 minutes then have this wet heavy pair of jeans on you dripping blue water for the next hour and then getting really cold as it drys. If you do this, do it in the summer when you can go outside and just sit till they dry. And lay towels down from your bath to the outside door as you will leave a trail. But you can say you did it. I really didn't see a huge difference between the two styles of soaking.

Can you just wear em and not soak em? I heard wear them in the bath then leave them on until they dry (mostly) but haven’t tried this.

Yes you can. I’m currently doing that with a pair. But know that when you do eventually wash them, they will shrink a bit. There are many ways to break in a new pair.

You also risk knee bags since the fabrics heavier and will grip the skin where it normally wouldn’t

Check the inside tag, but I believe the current LVCs are japanese denim.

Thats my true size in the weist and lenght btw (just 5-6cm[2inches i think] longer then i usually wear, so i can still wear it if it shrink like 5cm 😅)

I'm 178cm and weigh around 68kg. It really depends on the waist and inseam. If you have shorter legs you should be okay but it sounds like you're bigger than me, so you may have issues. Of course you can just NOT soak them if the jeans fit right now. Just wear them as is. Keep in mind don't sit on anything white!

it did get looser, I'll have to measure, but it won't go back to what it was before the soak.

No, I wouldn't soak them to get them looser. Usually denim will loosen up with wear. If it's not too much you need in the waist, just wear them. If it's all over, then you need a bigger pair.

@@BuddhaDoesStuff try wearing them, If you just get them wet and wear them dry that might help too, but not hot water. Just soaked and wear them dry

Yes, when you wash them in the washing machine for the first time they will probably shrink up a little more. But they should stretch back out after wearing them.

A machine wash will just remove all the starch and really wash the jean. The soak will just get rid of some of it, but will help shrink the pants down a bit. You can if you want, but I think a soak is better on selvedge jeans for the first time.
