I never thought of trying this trick. Many people say soldering iron is pointless because you already have a spot welder. However, I want to connect a small wire to a battery, spot welder can’t do that. You also need a soldering iron. Thank you so much for sharing this.

if you have spot welder to attach the strip you don't need to solder on it anyway, people solder on these cells because most of diyrs doesn't have a spot welder

Spot welding can not be trusted on critical projects. It's not if they fail, its when! Solder is so much better and cheaper. I have soldered 1000's with no harm to the cells.

Its easy to solder wire on 3.7 v li-ion battery ....just scratch where you want to solder and apply flux And it will work 1:23 with 25w soldering iron but purchase good quality soldering wire

I was soldering a AAA rechargeable battery, it was getting a slight brown liquid, now I tried testing it before fixing it and it doesn't seem to work, is it because it was heated too much?

soldering is not recommended

This. There is a reason the ends won’t easily take solder and don’t come pre-tinned. It is specifically to discourage you since the battery could explode.

Says who? You? The people on the internet? Scientist? Nasa? Who and why? I have soldered 1000's and 1000's of cells. I have done IR test with 0 issues. Spot welds are trash and can not be trusted on critical projects. You think NASA has spot welded batteries in space? HELL NO! Don't be the guy repeating what others say. I have used Old laptop batteries in all my projects, I used to clean them before but now I don't. They have have nickle strips spot weld to them. It's easy to soldier them this way.

This only works for salvaged batteries. Also: NEVER solder directly to a battery! It can overheat and explode.
