It fascinates me that some of our oldest stories and best literature warns against seeking "immortality" and the perils of wanting to live forever, yet we still value a long life and seek longer lifespans.

Calorie restriction, OMAD and resveratrol only prolongs our lifespans but doesn't reverse it: That's step 1. Reversing aging is currently unknown but the likes of Sinclair, De Grey and other gerontologist are looking for ways to reverse it and some of them successfully did it on mice: Step two is keep in touch and updated with these people's research AND HOPE that stage 1 would help you live long enough once human trials becomes a reality. Stage three is just my theory. This currently falls within the realm of sci-fi so take it with a grain of salt: I believe that the next stage would be human resurrection. My own take on it since 2004 is a machine that works like a human womb but instead of fetuses, it would be used for bodies that have been recently deceased. Those who put themselves/their dead bodies in cryogenic chambers hope that this type of technology would come true. Hopefully, the success of stage 2 would give us more time for this.

There are lots of stories of whales in the arctic north that still have harpoons lodged in their bodies from the 1800's. Cold temperatures slow ageing. There are microbes that literally live for thousands of years in the freezing cold away from any sunlight.

@@SpaceTimeBeing_ I think reversing aging will never happen in our lifetime if we leave it up to «idealistic» government researchers and hope it will be a free treatment for all. Without giant financial incentives the research will be so slow and involve too few people. I think the government should issue some really large financial awards for companies or individuals that can demonstrate treatments that work. But the thing is, if they actually work, the market will reward them financially anyway. Personally, I am willing to go into crippling debt if it means I can extend my life and reverse the aging process.
@cryptohouse1676

@@SpaceTimeBeing_ I mean, solving the problem of aging is extremely hard. It could be like fusion energy. Scientists have been working on fusion for many decades, yet we are still far from having any useful fusion reactors. Most likely aging will not be reversed in our lifetime, but I think it is worth a shot. Worst case, we die as people always have. Best case, we live on! The problem should be tackled from every angle and with all means. Be it governments or greedy private companies. I would rather have a 60% chance of survival and Google owning the cure, than 30% chance of survival but government giving the cure for free.

the thing i dont get is why children are capable of be born young if the source parent cell already have these information degraded through aging ? something about the gestation process repair the effect of cellular information degradation ? I guess if neural link is sufficiently advance to download memory onto a fresh brain, you could technically grow a youthful body and just transfer the memory into. Disregarding the whole who's the real clone argument aside.

The real question is should aging be solved ? whatever designed this simulation probably knows better in allocating time for every species .. there are plants that live for thousands of years and insects that live for a mere week . waking from a simulation could be blessing in disguise . Solving aging is like solving high school and staying there forever . maybe death is a natural upgrade of consciousness.
