Using graph to solve quadratic equations
In earlier chapters I've shown you how to solve quadratic equations by factoring, Completing the Square and by the use of General Formula.
A quadratic equation as you remember is an equation that can be written on the standard form:
ax²+bx+c=0, where a≠0
Another way of solving a quadratic equation is to solve it graphically. The roots of a quadratic equation are the x-intercepts of the graph, i.e the point(s) where the curve (parabola) touches the x-axes.
Graphing the equation could be done by making a table of values which you will see in this lesson.
A graph of x against y is plotted by joining the points of intersection between x and corresponding y values.
The point(s) where the curve touches the x axes determine the solution for such quadratic Equation.
