The drums of CB are... special. You can tell a song has the CB mark when you hear them. That kick, that snare... it's something really difficult to recreate. At least, that's how i see it. But yes, the rest of the song fits the CB style.
@malteaser84386 жыл бұрын
the main thing is at the end of a part of the song they have 4 snares in a row before the next bit

He's gone on record somewhere saying he uses a lot of Ableton stock 707 kit with a lot of compression.
@YourIdeologyIsDelusional4 жыл бұрын
I was going to say, 80s drums, but stay away from the 808 and the 909. So 707, Linn Drum, and BIG analog drums is how you get that retrowave sound. This guy makes some pretty nice offerings regardless of what brand of retro you're into, and they're extremely competitively priced: www.alyjameslab.com/

Definitely 707 snare + a lot of compression + bit sampler/crusher + mid and high freq boost on eq

This track definitely has more influences in it than Carpenter Brut alone -- though to be fair, it does have many of the CB staples. I feel like there's some Perturbator in here that augments a strictly CB sound. In fact, that CB/Prtbtr collab track immediately came to mind when I heard this. What was the name of that? Dominator? Domimation? Something along those lines.

Hey Ste! I just found your awesome tutorials and was wondering if you could do another in either the style of The Northern Lights or Sellorekt/LA Dreams? If so, that would be awesome, thank you!

The sound is a bit different, although the structure and atmosphere of the piece are quite similar. But the main melody is awesome. It completes perfectly with the piano theme.

Can you do a Cliff Martinez style video? Or maybe Paul Haslinger's Halt and Catch Fire stuff? Dunno what to call that kind of music but I think it has synthwave vibes. Would love a vid on that kind of sound.

This isn't very close to Carpenter's sound. The real stuff is more gritty, more aggressive and generally has many more layers.

I'd say he has the general idea of Carpenter Brut down pretty well. It's extremely difficult to sound exactly like another composer. So, as a tutorial to make music _like_ carpenter brut, I feel he did an exceptional job.
@gheesha4074 жыл бұрын
Sounds good, I think the important is in the bass, is more agressiva than a simple synthwave track. Maybe it don't sound 100% like CB but is normal also this helps a lot to start with dark synth. Thank u

Honestly, it can be looked as agressive, but it doesn't sound quite like Carpenter Brut. The drums especially, and the way of composing (with lots more sampling than you did) wasn't really right. But it's hard to get it right. Good job on this nonetheless.

www.mediafire.com/file/p6lpa3d53m3o40w/Paradise+Warfare+Intro.mid No patches, but from lowest to highest octave: polysix style bass, string pads, and a high lead with lots of delay. I know there is only the intro, but it should be pretty easy to fill in the rest.
