Bro these are pure gems thanks a lot g....❤️💯 I just have one question : Is 7500 is a random number or something else in your equation for calculating pre delay?
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
In general my calculation goes like this a minute has 60 seconds, that means 60,000 milliseconds, as we are defining or tempo in beats per minute (and that means 4th notes) we can divide the 60,000 by our bmp to get the length of a quarter note. 60,000/ x bmp= 4th 30,000/ x bmp= 8th 15,000/ x BPM= 16th 7,500 / x BPM = 32th 3,750 /x BPM = 64th 1,875 / x BPM= 128th You can use any of these values really but 7,500 is the fastest for me it’s all just taking that 60,000 number and dividing by 2 to get a different note value to start

why do people want to sound like other artist? I don't get it 🤷‍♂
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
I agree its important to develop your own sound which is why I emphasize in this video multiple times to still build and develop their sound with an actual mixing engineer if they want to stand out from the rest that's absolutely essential! But I think the interest comes from people just admiring how certain sounds make them feel. So if they wish to achieve a similar effect to make their music feel the same then why not! But again the best option for music is doing a blend of both with an actual engineer!

btw quick correction for reverb the pre delay gives the perception of distance between the sound source and the reflection source inside a space so a smaller predelay would make something sound further away vice versa for something you want sound closer away not the decay. you can for instance be in a very reverberant bathroom for example aka bathroom with a long decay due to the material the bathroom is made of(say for example a bathroom made of tile thats 12ftx12ft vs the same bathroom but acoustically treated). the predelay indicates how close the sound source(the vocal for instance) is close to the reflective source(the wall in the recording space) hopefully thats helpful dope vid
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
I agree, but I just didn't elaborate this much on the reverb settings for the time sake of the video to keep everything concise. Shorter pre delay time does mean its sounding further out but decay time does add to this equation still as well. It just depends on where you want to make the effected sound, sound like its sitting. Longer decay times are like bigger rooms and if you use the short pre-delay time they both play on each other. Much like if you use a short pre-delay with a short decay it'll sound like its in a smaller room and not as much further back because small rooms only go so deep and far. One minor detail I left out but I think people still get the memo...

great video! quick question: you showing the valhallah with the plate preset but the mode is always on concert hall. im not at home rn so can anyone please confirm wether its normal or did he changed the mode??
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
So that’s just the way I have it routed. On Valhalla you could have it on plate and have it a plate but I just have it set up on my template that way because, all the different modes on Valhalla sound different but I personally like the concert hall version as a plate better than the actual different plate settings on the Valhalla. But play with the modes with your vocals and test each different one out because each does sound 100% with their own unique tones and textures. But that’s what I just used for this video that was a quick rough mix

are you putting the doubler straight on the track/on an aux track that your vocals are routed too? Im so used to putting a doubler on a send and fading it in, i didnt even think of popping it straight on there.
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
You can do both. In this case I plopped it straight on there and it works 🔥 when you be mixing for so long a lot of people get intimidated to make bold moves and commit to a sound but if you listen to a lot of mike deans mixes he goes heavy with the effects and pushes limits which creates interesting sounds. It’s always switching on a case by case basis but for this example and a lot of don tolivers stuff the stereo vocal information is spread pretty heavy on certain sections which is what I did here 🔥

Same thing with Hunxho & Future, Coochise and Carti's old flow the list goes on. As music consumers some people just love the same sound and even blow stuff up that sounds similar Again I don't condone it and I agree with you on why most hate this Gen of artists but that's where the real creatives shine... I notice you put your delay throws before the bus ? why ?
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
The way I'm routing all my vocals and background layers are all getting routed to the same bus. So if I were to do the delay throws from the lead bus this would include all the background harmony/adlib/dub layers that overlap the leads which is something I wouldn't want being sent to those throw sends because it would throw off the rhythm and what you hear etc... If I routed all the lead tracks to their own individual bus and all the background layers to their own individual bus then I could've put the throws directly on the lead bus which could also be a favorable way to achieve your sound but just for simplicity sake I did it on the direct tracks to streamline things a little bit quicker. Great question though! I hope that answered your question (: 👍

Could you explain the "7500"in 7500/BPM? What does it mean? Also, why wouldn't you use 60000/BPM?
@goobstersroom
@goobstersroom Жыл бұрын
They're essentially the same thing. The 7500 is just a shortcut to the 60,000 because the math will still check out, I forgot the exact explanation to how they are essentially the same thing but you could try it for yourself. If you choose to do 60,000 divided by the bpm you'll get the value for a longer decay time and if you want a shorter decay or to get your pre delay you would have to divide by 2, 2-4 times. (Maybe even more depending on BPM) If you 7500 it shortcuts the amount of times you have to divide by 2 its just quicker. It all depends on your bpm of course but usually ill only divide by 2 once or twice to get my pre delay and then multiply by 2 once or twice to get my decay. Does that make sense? They're basically the same thing. 7500 to me is just a faster way to get to my solution. Let's me set and forget quicker than the 60,000 although the 60,000 still works too. Hope that helps! 👍
