It’s no coincidence that almost everyone who likes Scriabin truly *loves* Scriabin. I am currently still in this obsessive phase with his music; I’ve listened to everything one can find on the internet and adore all of it. He could orchestrate better than anyone and his piano work is up there with the masters like Chopin and Beethoven.

Ravel is difficult in his own way. Every composer is unique the way they composed their music. Every composer evolves in his or her pieces throughout their life.
@suryavabhattacharya249

@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 of course but Scriabin changes all throughout his life significantly. Ravel's style stays consistent at least from around 1905. Sure it evolves in terms of technique but the overall style doesn't significantly change... Late Scriabin is significantly different stylistically to early Scriabin and even middle Scriabin deviates a lot from early Scriabin

He was the most influential composer of the 20th century. Stravinsky stated he was influenced my Scriabin greatly. Also many mystics followed him, however they never became too popular, considering they mostly lived in the Soviet Union. Composers such as Feinberg, Sabyneyeev, Roslavets, Ornstien, and Obukov.

Compared to Beethoven or Mozart, every else is “underrated”. But not really, many people perform Scriabin. It’s not hard at all to find a Scriabin performance. Underrated composers would be Field, Rautavaara or zelenka. That’s underrated, not a guy that literally everyone wants to learn his famous etude.

Very accessible in-depth analysis of style. Equally a great pianist and teacher, you have not only done countless hours playing and becoming intimately involved with Scriabin's musical style, you have reached further into the whys and wherefores of many intricate moments and have explained your thoughts on them extremely well. Happy Birthday was stylistically spot on- hidden well enough that anyone listening without knowledge of your goal would never have guessed it. You're a formidable musician in all senses of the word.

You are my biggest inspiration, thank you for the video! Question: do you research language characteristic, or something similar to add to the process? I was imagining how happy birthday in Russian sounds like :P

Thank you so much!! I didn't research on the specific language characteristics, but I did listen to some Russian in passing :))

LOVE Scriabin. One of the coolest of these you've done, and they're all almost unspeakably excellent.

I’d recommend anyone who is intrigued by Scriabin’s later works to check out the pieces for piano written (at least most people believe were written) by his son Julian Scriabin - who sadly drowned before even reaching his teenage years. Its not music that any child could ever conjure unless exposed to the genius of Scriabin.

An amazing reconstruction of HBD in style of Scriabin. I'm currently learning / playing his Etude #12 and Prelude #11 for fun.
