Hey man. Hope ur feeling better. Love what u did here. A couple questions. Where are u putting or mounting the psu and would u put the smaller hole lower so you can sit the psu on same surface as the cooler? If you could vent directly outside, would you and how long of ducting would you use? How did u secure the ducting to the shrouds inside to keep heat out of the cooler. Thx again man. 🙏🏾
@MinerDigi6 жыл бұрын
Thank you bro I really appreciate that. 1. You can mount the PSU directly on the side of the cooler. 2.I put the smaller whole aligned with the larger hole because I like to add a piece of Styrofoam under the antminer to keep it off the surface to let the heat dissipate quicker. If you want to make the two larger holes lower than you can def make the smaller hole lower as well. 3.With this setup using 6 inch ducting you do not even need the shrouds! The 6" ducting will go perfectly around the 120 mm fan than secure it with zip ties. 4.This question is a very important one. I did run many tests on the length of the duct and how if effects the performance and from my testing it looked like 3 feet was optimal but you can push it to 5 feet with no issues at all. I hope this helps, let me know if you need anymore information and good luck on the build!

Miner Digi cool. Cool. Awesome man. I just got 2 s9's and haven't even pulled them out of the box yet. I was wondering if I drilled the smaller hole lower and layed the psu on the same surface as the cooler, would the wires from the psu be able to reach the Miner. Last question, I can literally vent these outside from where I am putting them and do so with a very short run of ducting. Is it worth it? And as for the cool side, are you filtering the air in any way? Mine are going on a top shelf in a garage where I can vent both out a small garage window but I'm worried about the air going in and where I should pull that from. Thx again man. This is gonna be a HUGE help!

For everyone that watched this need to also put the psu inside the cooler towards the suction side to allow it to breathe. Do no tape up the intake side to allow airflow for both the miner and psu. The main focus to quiet the miner is to tape the exhaust side to your insulated duct to get the hot air and sound levels down

Great video, question why use 6" instead of 4" duct? did you try smaller?
@MinerDigi6 жыл бұрын
Manolo I made a video testing the different shrouds and the issue with he 4" shroud is that its just not large enough. The opening for the fan blade is over 4 inches so scientifically speaking you are causing a severe case of ventilation obstruction, in essence you would need another inline fan to get over the obstruction value rather than using 6 inch ducting to help the air flow easier with no obstruction =) I hope that helps and sums it up.
@manolosuarez27376 жыл бұрын
Helps a lot buddy thanks.... one more: :) did you try longer or shorter ducts? I understand the longer it is the lower noise, but this can again cause problems with ventilation or not?

I just recieved a Antminer z9, and i was wondering if you or any1 els made a box like this. The z9 dont have a fan on the back, but thats still where it blows in air. The front fan is 6.6 inches. And the back "triangle" as there is no fan is 7 inches. Both messearude in diameter. Will the link of the 6 inch work for the front fan? I mean since Its flexibel the 0.6 difference might be the same on the S9 fan?
@amannin16 жыл бұрын
My Z9 mini just arrived too and I'm working on a similar solution. I plan to get a much smaller cooler from Walmart, attach 3 ft of insulated ducting on the intake side (with the fan), and maybe only 1 or 2 ft of ducting on the output, since as you mentioned, there is no fan.

The CFM being pushed out of these fans is around 200 I think, should be plenty to push through a few feet of ducting, just keep an eye on your board and chip temps. I try to keep my max chip temps at 60 or below for the Z9 Mini.

Manolo! I just saw your email, sorry! I answered everything you needed, hopefully 😀😀 Here is the link for the ducting: www.amazon.com/Speedi-Products-FD-25R8-06-Insulated-Metalized/dp/B0085UZQ2E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1518527376&sr=8-3&keywords=6"+insulated+flexible+duct GET THE R8 its more efficient! During installation is a function of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. As such ac system is not complete without the ducts through which heated or cooled air is distributed throughout a building. Although the most basic ducting is made from sheet metal, most of the ducting in residential applications is insulated. Examples are the R6 and R8 ducting systems. Further we will compare R6 vs R8 ducting and review pros and cons of both.In these two, the R-value is used to indicate a thermal insulator’s effectiveness in resisting heat conduction. It is measured relative to thermal conductance and takes into account the thickness of the material and energy conducted in relation to the area and differences in temperature between the two sides of the material. Differences between R6 and R8 ducting systems. Thickness in insulting materialThe thickness in the ducting materials used to make R6 and R8 ducting is one of the glaring differences between the two. In essence, R8 ducting uses thicker insulation than R6 ducting. This means that if you were to do air conditioning installation using R8 ducting, you get better installation than if you are using R6 ducting.Efficiency of heat insulationWhen it comes to efficiency of heat insulation R6 ducting if less efficient than R8 ducting. In essence, R8 reduces energy loss by approximately 2 percent, which is equivalent to consuming less energy by 3 percent.CostR8 ducting comes with a wider diameter than that of R6 ducting and thus will cost more. The higher cost of R8 ducting could also be due to its efficiency in insulation and energy saving. So, if you are doing ducting installation with R8 ducting, be prepared to pay more for it. The following are the disadvantages of R6 ducting:Using R6 ducting in your ducting installation means you get a less efficient HVAC system.Air conditioning installation using R6 ducting allows for less air flow due to its smaller diameter.The following are the advantages of R6 ducting:R6 vs R8 ducting is cheaper, meaning you pay less for material cost.R6 has a smaller diameter and therefore can be used to replace older ducts during airconditioning installation without having to expand the spaces where the ducts go through.Compared to R4, which is lower rated ducting, R6 offers greater thermal efficiency and therefore saves energy. However, it is not as efficient as R8 ducting. Cons of R8 ducting:The following are the disadvantages of R8 ducting:Using R8 ducting when doing your air conditioning installation is more as expensive compared to using R6 ducting.R8 ducting is thicker and might not, therefore, properly replace lower diameter R6 when you decide to upgrade your ducting installation.Pros of R8 ducting:The following are the advantages of R8 ducting:R8 ducting offers greater thermal efficiency due to its thicker insulation. So if you use it in your air conditioning installation, you get all the heat you require out of it.With R8 ducting, you pay less for your energy utility bills due to the efficiency it comes with.

I wonder If I point the hoses toward the ceiling it would be adequate ? At the moment I am drawing cool outside air , but I will need to keep the A/C on 73 in the summer . As it is , the room will probably be around 80 degrees with a 73 degree setting . I hate lowering more because its too cold in the rest of the house. I ordered 4 DCR1's and will add more Baikals. @MinerDigi5 жыл бұрын
Obvious statement, ambient temperature at core is always hottest that is why there are two 120mm fans running at 5k-6k rpm to dispel the core temp. If you are running this cooler in an AC environment the ambient temp inside the cooler actually becomes cooler with flow and deduction rates but you know that right? I have done mineral oil cooling systems as well as open air straight flow. Theory is all fine and dandy but my statements are based on facts, variables and outcomes.
