I want you to know how much I love your videos. I always learn something even though I have been gardening a long time. Yesterday I rewatched your February 2021 video on grow lights because I'm running out of room on my 2 purchased grow light stands. Also, I recently brought up a pot of 3 amaryllis that had been outside last summer until it was put into the basement and it burst into giant blooms in a short time. Thank you and enjoy the weekend!

Hello, I just joined your channel last night, I'm retired and just started my journey growing plants my neighbor who lives behind me helped me. Last summer she gave me a Dalah tuber its in the garage don't know what it looks like. I had 3 planters of snapdragons before our below-zero weather last year. I brought them into the garage they were still green and growing. 2 pots died I think they are crispy green. One needed light so I brought 2 sets of grow lights, I see new growth yea. I have one snapdragon it's about 1.5 feet from the house it has so far survived the winter and has little green leaves. And this Christmas my neighbor gave me an Amaryllis its on its second bloom. soon I will be starting my tomatoes, and flowers, Oh I'm in zone 6 along the shores of lake erie im about 3 miles from the lake.

Poppy can really "set off" a garden; although I still don't appreciate the seed pods in cut flower arrangements yet. My volunteer poppies are just starting to bloom. There must have been seeds in whatever soil or mulch that we purchased a long time ago. They look out of place in the pebble/rock border along my path. Maybe this year I will save the seed pods and grow more. I have had little luck in seed saving/propagating but who knows? This maybe the plant that works.

Man, that lilac Pom Pom did horribly in my garden last year. 😢 They grew great but when rain hit the blossoms (even when the buds were just cracking) they would turn to mush and display black spots. My supreme poppies didn’t have the same problem so I was happy to have planted the two varieties. Here in the South, we have to direct seed in early winter to get them to flower before the heat sets in so I have some sweet little plants standing about 2” tall now. 😊 I’m quickly becoming obsessed!

These look GORGEOUS! Do you have any pest pressure when they are first seeded? One of my packages did fine and look great. The second one I sowed completely disappeared after germination. Assuming it was birds/squirrels or? I even covered with frost cloth thinking that would prevent that but sadly no. Any advice?

So I see the pods open as they mature, if you want to use them for fresh arrangements I assume you pick green and unopened, but what about for dried arrangements or use in wreaths etc- do you let them mature and open and dry on the plant and dump out the seeds, or pick green and dry them so the openings don’t form so seeds don’t ever come out and get everywhere (I hear the seeds can keep coming out of the ripe open pods and as they dry more & more come out), or would they just rot if you did that? I guess just wondering what stage to pick pods if you want to use them dried.

As for keeping them evenly moist, do you find that you sprinkle them with water every day if there is no rain? I am also in zone 6 but in New Jersey.
