I don't think most people would notice the difference between "what are you doing these days" and "what are you up to these days" They mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably. All I'm saying is that you don't need to feel insecure or worry about using the first sentence, because it sounds just as natural as the second one.

Hello! Native English speaker here. That was pretty good but in this context that’s not really what they’re asking. “What are you up to these days?” Or “What are you doing these days?” Is what you would say to someone you haven’t seen in a while. So, you’re not asking to make plans or asking how busy they are. You are asking what they do day to day. Do they have a new job? Any new hobbies? Maybe a new boyfriend or girlfriend? So instead you would ask: How’s life treating you? What’s new with you? Something along those lines. I hope that was helpful! 😊

As a non-native speaker who grew up in USA (I came here at 11 years old and I’m now 27), I think it would’ve been fine for her to teach English if she did it correctly most of the time. I personally had the highest grades in my English class in both high school and college (even more so than my peers who were born here), but if I were to give the wrong advice, then I’m not qualified to teach the language. She was indeed wrong in far too many videos. The issue is not that she’s not a native speaker, but that she hasn’t done enough research on the language and how it’s used in different social settings. That shows in her multiple mistakes she makes in her videos. We all make mistakes ofc, but it’s important to reflect on them and correct ourselves if that happens.

When people point out her mistakes, she should consider doing follow up videos talking about them. Then she would’ve gotten all my respect. Even I’m not perfect, but I’m willing to own up and correct myself if I have to. None of us are perfect, but we can always self-reflect and improve.
