Etsy I heard stopped allowing postage stamps due to all the fakes. It could happen to sports cards one day. It's one thing spotting fakes, but it's another shutting it down and destroying fakes.

OPC factory cut the card sheets with wire. Not barbed wire, though.

The real opc card also has 2 photo exposure dots on the top left of the card.Most people don't mention this.

Everything passes except the cut of the card…..my edges are pretty fine, do all genuine cards have rough cut edges?

most have some sort of edge problem if they are made by OPC because the Canadian company used inferior cutting blades or methods so when the blade got dull edges would be rough. So having an OPC Gretzky rookie with great edges is rare. On the other hand TOPPS which is an American company used much better equipment for cutting and all of their cards have almost perfect edges so it is normal for a TOPPS Gretzky to have close to perfect edges. Much better edges than OPC at any rate.

There are sheet cut ones out there too, Beckett even graded them…

I have to say, and I'm not the only person with this opinion based on conversations I've had at sports card shows, that I am shocked and quite dismayed that at least one of the two known PSA 10 Gem Mint OPC Gretzky rookie cards not only doesn't appear to be a 10 on a cursory glance, never mind an in-depth look, but it might not even be mint, yet PSA somehow graded it that way and somebody paid a couple of million dollars for it. It is so obviously not a perfect card with borders that are not centered. A Gem Mint 10 card has to be perfect in every way to the naked eye and under a jeweler's loop. P.S. I also always take exception to people stating definitively that Gretzky is the best player of all time. Many people, including myself, will make the argument that Bobby Orr is the best all-round player ever. It's at least debatable. It's only beyond debate that Wayne is the greatest offensive force in the history of the sport.

Offensively maybe Gretzky is the best but his records are falling, and I would not even call him the best. Bobby Orr was doing everything that he did but 10 years earlier and from a defenseman position. Orr was and is the only D man to ever win a scoring championship and he did it twice while at the same time winning the Norris trophy for best defender and yes Orr could play some nasty D. Old story is a team of 5 Orr's would always beat a team of 5 Gretzky's because Orr could match Gretzky on offense but Orr could also play defense which Gretzky could not and Orr could throw some mean body checks where as Gretzky never through body checks. As for PSA they are garbage graders and when the general public eventually opens their eyes to all the times PSA got caught grading trimmed cards then they will no longer have great resale value.

@@timwhitnell7145 The 1 st PSA10 was a Beckett Vintage Grading 9.0 Not even a 9.5 , WAS A CROSSOVER and PSA put it 10........
