So, this is a bit embarrassing... I have a new Coin Error to share with you, but this error is so rare, it doesn't even have a proper name yet. So I've had to invent a name.
I'm calling it the "Colour Mismatch" Error, but please let me know if you have a better name.
This error is unique to the coloured coins, and it can be a hard one to spot. Imagine these are 2 coins with unique pattens and colours.
Yep, I've designed the most boring coins in history, but stay with me... This error happens when the colour from one coin ends up on the background pattern of another coin.
In my example here, the colour from Coin 1 is accidentally printed on the background from Coin 2.
So in one case, the rosemary colour from this coin ... ended up on the background of this Lest We Forget coin.
Now there are only a few cases of this error that I'm aware of so far, but that doesn't mean there aren't more out there.
It's easy to miss, because some coins have similar background designs, like the Olympics coins from 2016.
You may not notice if they have the wrong colour, unless you look closely at the background of the coin. In any case, it's much easier to spot this error if you have clear photos of the coins, so... I have a new guide for you with High Quality Photos and mintage details of all Australian coins in circulation since 1966.
It includes all of the Coloured Coins released through Woolworths. You can access that guide here:
