@Todd Packer I'm in my 20s & make an average salary (~80k). Looking as if I make more money than I do is the goal of most people my age. May be able to afford one if I saved, but I'd rather put those thousands elsewhere and invest to make more money. I prefer it over the few other 300-600 watches I own. The replica market is huge, everything from clothing, shoes, watches, art, automotive, appliances, etc. Oftentimes, they're produced implementing the same methods and in the same regions. Status is often what you're purchasing, and the companies are aware of this. Craftsmanship is marginal anymore. Therefore, the only evidence of high quality is brand recognition, which replica brands use freely, of course. As long as no individual is being taken advantage of personally (attempting to sell replica merchandise as real, at MSRP), then there is no foul. The only ones taking a loss are the multi-million/billion dollar companies, which wouldn't have clients anyway due to tax brackets. Sure, I could save money for a few months and cut other expenses and afford legit Rolex, or buy replica and spend my money in other ways. You're either purchasing a Rolex as an investment (hoping to buy low & keep it in mint condition & sell when/if it's high) or to enjoy as a daily/occasion wear, knowing the tarnish will affect the value and you'll lose money. No stress in wearing a replica. At the end of the day, if someone is into my watch, I'll tell them it's a replica. Those passing by may notice it, may not. Same as wearing designer clothes, nice shoes, or replica wheels on your car. You can have your cake and afford to eat, too, with replica options.

Those are very minor and hard to spot differences for an approximate $7,700 difference in price. Especially for something that is just pure jewelry now anyway and contains no precious metals. Doesn't matter, as far as telling time goes the cell phone is far far far far far superior. Rolex loses at best 2 seconds a day. Cell phone loses 0 seconds over years. It's always spot on linked to the atomic clock. Therefore, as the watch is obsolete as a tool for telling time all a Rolex is good for anymore is as a piece of jewelry. An $8,000 piece of stainless steel jewelry. Something about marketing, greed, and suckers. Rolex will endure as long as their marketing stays strong because there's always going to be douches who want to show off.

When it comes to accurate time, cellphones as indeed tell the most accurate time but they are not a piece of nice jewelry like a Rolex is. They are not handbuilt and are not decently polished, they do not have the beautiful edges that a Rolex has. It's about people who care about the handbuilt quality of the watch and the hard work of people. It is about those who appreciate the beautiful creations in life. In fiscal year 2018 I made over $24,000 in personal donations to the charitable foundation I started for families in need of medical care for children with life threatening diseases. I could easily have paid $8,000 for this watch but paying that much for a hunk of stainless steel jewelry with no precious metals or gemstones just seems ridiculous. Now, I understand why people do it. They want to show off for family/clients/co-workers/women etc. There's nothing inherently wrong with that but just own it for what it is.

"If it isn't perfect, it isn't Rolex" Go look at some Rolex forums with known-genuine watches and look at some of the pics posted. People dealing with Sub bezels that seem a bit mis-aligned with the dial, tiny but naked-eye visible paint issues, etc. Often times they bring it back to be told "it is within spec". Now, nothing as egregious as this fake but even $100 (and some research) can get you a fake that is WAY better than this one and addresses all of the "tells" in this video.

Many of the quality differences presented in this video stand true with all replica watches. There are many more tests not shown in this video that are surefire ways of determining a fake watch.
