This is like one of those lame videos they made you watch in school, but you didn't complain because it meant you didn't have to do any work 😆

Never open your door to a stranger, period. You lock your door for a reason.

You can’t rely on letters either, could be a set up. Call the company that sent it to verify.

I never open my door to anyone I'm not expecting. If anyone knocks I open my bedroom window to see who it is and if it's sales people, religious nuts, collectors etc they get the bums rush so rudely they never come back.

This is why I have LARGE DOGS, (Australian Heelers) who are VERY territorial and have an sense of who is a bad person and who is NOT. Oh, and I live off the road over 1000ft and have an electric Gate that stays closed until I open it.

The UK's police conducted a thorough study of distraction burglaries a couple decades ago. Most of these burglars prey on victims who are white, female, and 78 years old. It is seldom they target younger or middle-aged people, unless such a target has a mobility problem, a handicap. The average age of the burglars is 30 something. They are usually white, preying on whites. Most learned their wicked craft from their parents. Only a small percentage, about 5 percent, are ever apprehended. Their modes of operation of very similar, sometimes identical in England and the U.S. For example, following a postal delivery, someone knocks. Assuming it is the postal worker knocking for a package delivery, since the regular mail was just dropped off, the target opens the door. The perpetrator identifies himself as a utility worker or a contractor for a local utility company. A common tactic is to claim they have a contract to trim trees along an easement and require access to the back yard. The perpetrator assumes the backdoor alarm is disabled while his accomplice chats up the victim in a corner of the back yard. It could be a neighbor's trees that require trimming. One of the perpetrators will make reference to a news article regarding safety and a recent mishap to lend her narrative credibility. She will say they need to place warning flags at various places near electrical utilities. While chatting her up, the perpetrator will point to another yard further from the house, saying casually, "Oh, there's my partner now." That is the distraction, because her partner at that very moment is very close by, in the opposite direction from which the partner is pointing, slipping into the home through the backdoor, the door with an alarm temporarily disabled by the homeowner while she went into the backyard. Male perpetrators will often work alone; whereas females most commonly have a male partner. They say they will return the following day. They have no intention of returning to do any pruning at all, since they were only there to steal. The sad victim will discover within a few hours that she is hundreds if not thousands of dollars or pounds poorer as a result of that encounter with "contractors." They will steal cash, cameras, and diamond wedding rings. Search for the UK's police report online. It is truly worth reading to become more aware of the methods employed by these types of vile criminals. (Also posted on a Cleveland channel discussing a burglary upon a 103-year-old citizen.)

the old woman did not ask for ID and should have called the electric company to ask if this was to be done or what. this is wrong and not clever but will cost them their soul in the end if they did not make it right with people. YOU NEVER LEAVE MONEY OUT TO BE SEEN by anyone and I would and do watch any repairmen when they come to my place if they sneezed Id be right there to see if I had to clean up any thing. I also keep any jewelry in the bank box so no one gets it till I die

Does the burglar fart at 3:33 when he bends down to look under the stairs at the electric meter or am I just hearing things?

11:54. "How could I make someone leave?" I don't know, the .38 Special I keep in my pocket might come in handy for that task. I realize that's impossible in England. God bless the English anyway and I'm glad they made this video. Criminals are very crafty and we all need to help each other to be on top of things.

The elderly couple should have had their doors and windows locked at all times front and back especially when they are not in use as the whole point in locking your doors and windows at all times day and night is to stop intruders like them seeking access into your house and potentially robbing the place
