Love your teaching style and your voice! I am not sure I get what is it you track? For instance at 2:29 - do you choose objects that should be 100% steady? Could you explain a bit more about this part about what you would select when you try to stabilise a clip? Thanks a lo in advance! If anybody has valuable links to the topic, please share (much appreciated🙏🏻)

Another cool thing you can do with this is animate the parent point layer across the screen to create a perfect camera panning motion from footage with an imperfect pan. This technique doesn't get rid of "jello effects" often introduced by jittery footage. You need a professional stabilizing tool like Mercalli which incorporates CMOS correction. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for - especially if you're working on commercial projects.

I would love to know that too. From what I've understood, you would track one or two points as long as they are in the view, then move the boxes to two new points that are far in the distance. And then keep on doing that for the entire clip. Don't know if that's how you're supposed to do it, but I will give it a shot (pun intended ;))

I really wish you would get the Mercali stabilizer like Corel VideoStudio has. I used to use videostudio for everything and honestly, that stabilizer was the biggest reason I hesitated to switch. I really wish FXHome could integrate it to hitfilm.
@bubbly63794 жыл бұрын
Not perhaps the best option but you could use resolve to stabilize/color correct your footage as it has top of the line systems for both. Then just export for use in hitfilm

How do you export the clip after the stabilysation ?
@stbn77774 жыл бұрын
This is perfect for a static shot. But what about a panoramic shot? (Thanks for the video anyway!)
@FilmEmpireTV4 жыл бұрын
For a panoramic shot you can select one point and track that. If it's about to go off screen, hold ALT and drag the two boxes to a new point to track. Holding ALT applies that tracking data of the new point to the old one. Then select which axis you want to stabilize. If you're doing a pan, stabilize the Y axis. A tilt would require the X axis.
I'd say this one covers the bases a lot better than the other video on the same thing, but I keep ending up with the footage comeplete spiralling out of frame and spinning wildy - hardly stable - I can't say I know what's going wrong.

It's not like I use any different settings from before, so what might be the cause? Have you had people ask this question before? Is there anything you know that might help? Da Vinci Resolve is free and stabilization is best in class with single click
@damienmayoussier44474 жыл бұрын
Not so "simple" and acurate, especifically with paning/rotating footages such as hyperlaps for instance. In this case hitfilm stabilization is a nightmare. I regret that for such an important feature, premiere, final cut and resolve all have a totaly automatic stabilization one-buton. And with hitfilm, you still have to track 2 points and hopping a mediocre result with paning/rotating shaky footages. Sorry i'm becoming each time a little bit more desapointed with HF pro. Speed ramp FX is a pain, no h265 import, no adjustment layer to color grade in the timeline... The software is good but behind competition. Hurry FX Team, competition is going fast...
@timetraveler5074 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, Damien! I am deeply disappointed with HitFilm after I struggled to figure out to do how to stabilize the shaky video, and make the animation of fuse effect all night without a success. HitFilm has a fantastic VFX features, but it has a lack of automatic VFX features that made us a headache to create various effects with a load of complexity works. I decided to go to DaVinci Desolve, and it is much easier and flexibility. It is similar to old Premiere Pro CS6 that I love. Smile!

I see how this can work for static shots, but many people are shooting handheld pan shots. Don't see how this technique can be used for those shots which is the main use for stabilization! Each frame has a different position and size when shooting handheld pan shots. Please try a handheld pan shot and let us know if Hitfilm can actually help stabilize these shots. Good tutorial otherwise.

Warp stabilizer is way better...
@FilmEmpireTV4 жыл бұрын
Warp stabilizer does work pretty well in some cases but serves a different purpose. Warp stabilizer smooths out motion but can get some pretty funky artifacts when moving rapidly. The stabilize function in HitFilm is more to keep a certain feature stable in the frame.
