I retired from the army I had played acoustic guitar since high school. I have built cigar box guitars, an electric guitar and now an acoustic. I love working with my hands. I’ve learned so much from Daisy’s videos.

In my retirement from mathematics I several months ago took up instrument making. Being 67 is a bit old for the apprentice style experience and essentially I found several good KZbin Channels for guidance with Jerry Rosa's Rosa String Works being an excellent source for information. Even Mathias Wandel has a nice series of Tenor Ukukele videos from 9 years ago stored on his site that are darn informative. I've only built three so far and I use a lot of jigs which makes the build fairly certain and if I had to pick the hardest aspect I'd say setup and here you want some really good tools. Glad to see another build channel come along, best wishes and honestly, I love the process and the instruments birthday.

My luthier mate, Steve Salvi, was a Churchill fellow and is the only guy I trust with my personal guitars. He worked in Denmark Street and Santa Cruz in San Diego. It is so important to know the minutiae that you want and convey it to your luthier- otherwise you get les than you want from builder and client. Learnt that 18 years ago. Interesting about the Moon Alpine Spruce. A similar story to yours, Daisy. Terry from Oz.

What an impressive young lady! As the dusty old man that I am, I thought luthiers where dusty old men!!! Looking at the tools in your workshop you have an amazing range of skills! Definitely subscribing.

A very smart young lady I want too wish you the best in your career I love too watch a guitar being made I have met a couple people that build guitar’s I have a hand made guitar with my name in the fretboard it’s a TR Teague made out of a Martin D28 or 35 style same wood he bought from Martin a bunch of materials an blueprints an built it him self . It was built back in the 70’s still looks as good as the day he finished it an sounds better now then it did then . You definitely know what your doing when it comes to choosing your material’s. Love the videos keep up the good work an best of wishes too you .

That was so wholesome seeing Meg fangirl over Daisy almost as hard as she fangirled over the luthiers at martin Guitars in the USA. (To be honest, I would too) It was great to hear Daisy's journey and the creative lens that she uses in her builds. The stories about the wood she sources was great too.

Oddball question but are the crescent wrenches for your tables? I can see them being used for the nut on the back side of a machine head but I would guess them to be more for your machinery and not directly upon the guitars themselves.

There must be times when certain tasks are settling, glueing or drying where it would makes sense to do some work on the next. Do you have a hepa grade filter system in addition to dust extraction?

Daisy sounds a bit like Keira Knightley who is from SW London, apparently. Just watched Pride and Prejudice (2005) and the accent is unmistakable, at least to this American.

I don't buy the moon spruce argument, because the heartwood used for guitars has nothing to do with sap movement. The only sap/water transport in trees occurs in the outer layers of the cambium. Moon cycle induced changes in sap transduction (which occurs all the time, but maybe not at the same level) over the course of a small number of days does not seem likely to change the water content of the wood in the center (which has no living cells).

Loved the video until I saw her asking price. I really don’t see how she can justify charging that price, regardless of the craftsmanship.

I wouldn’t say she was a pro luthier. She hasn’t had enough experience to get that title. She’s made what… 3 guitars? A pro would be James Olson, Erwin Somogyi, or Kevin Ryan. She is a luthier, but my no means a pro… yet. She’s young. If she continues to train and build she will become a pro.

She does this for a living. This is how she pays the rent. That makes her a pro.
