Thank you for your advice. I’m breeding my English yellow (white) Labrador for the first time. I bred Golden Retrievers a couple times and I loved it!! It’s been about 10 years now and having found your channel has been a lot of help, thank you so much!!

My puppies went through heat when my female was 7 months old. I used a diaper on her. He still tried to get the deed done until we decided to try putting a diaper on him as well. Believe it or not that actually solved the problem, LOL!

Good video. We’re still in the day dreaming stage, but found this helpful. Wonder if you would ever do a video on breeding rights. Breeding a dog that is AKK registered vs not. How to get breeding rights etc. thanks very much.

Good info. You should bring up the AKC registration.... limited vs unlimited. I luckily found a breeder, who has no problem giving me unlimited registration.

Thank you for the info video..I am thinking about putting a business plan together , I want to be a hobby breeder. I love the breed of dog I am going to breed and think they will make many families happy. Max maybe 2 litters a year. I will have a website, and the dogs will be in our home and apart of our family. Should I make my business an LLC and get insurance?

Great question! The laws are different from place to place. For this reason and others I don’t offer legal advice. What I suggest you do is have that conversation with a local attorney and a CPA in your area and follow their advice.

Hi Alan, I'm new to your channel and am gleaning from your videos, thank you! I have a couple questions. First, I have a lab mix and didn't get her fixed in hopes to breed her. We have a male dog in our house that has bonded with her but is fixed so they're not able to have pups. If I decided to breed her with a stud, would they still be close or would they hate each other? After watching your videos, I've thought about starting over with two puppies. Should the male and female I choose be from different litters or can they be from the same litter?

It’s best to breed dogs that are completely unrelated. Genetic diversity is your best defense against unwanted traits surfacing. I cover this In the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fojKhWufg5uYh6Msi=MOMP9I9GK28jKTZX here.

So far I've watched the first three of your videos. What I'm curious about is pre-mating care for both my male and my female. I know for sure that they have to be caught up on their shots, I assume they need to be wormed, and I'm sure there's other information I need to know. Also I'm wondering about feeding my female after they've done the deed. Do I change her food right away and assume that she's pregnant, or do I wait until halfway through the pregnancy when it's confirmed that she's pregnant? And then the last part of my question is after the puppies are born what's the best way to feed the mama?

How much does DNA testing usually cost?
@must_love_labs3 жыл бұрын
Great question! It depends on which service you go with and which panel of tests you choose. You can expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $300. Sometimes even a little more.
@stuplant66933 жыл бұрын
I got DNA testing in the UK done by a mid range company 'wisdom' costing £89 per dog. Pre covid it cost me 50. Why the massive increase in 18 months I don't know.

Hello there Mr. one question do we need a license or something to become a dog breeder ?

That depends on the laws where you live. It varies from place to place. You definitely need to find out. 👍

does your dog need to be AKC registered for breeding? i’m planning on getting a female from a ethical reputable breeder, but i got my male dog two years ago from a random breeder as a birthday gift. he seems purebred, and they said he was purebred showing his mom and dad, and showed her breeding process with breeding their personality. but i’m still DNA testing to check his genetics. he’s perfectly healthy, if he isn’t 100% purebred would that matter if he looks purebred? only concerned cause he’s a bit shorter than the rest. the whole reason i wanted to start is because i love aussies and i want to give more of tha happiness i have to others, and i want to continue my males blood line, and keep his son when he passes away and gets too old. but my biggest question is am i still allowed to breed? and do i need to be AKC registered? and let’s say in the chance he isn’t 100% purebred australian shepard, how would i get him partner club registered? since i know they have to be purebred

We have F2 Cavapoos and wondering if they are as sought after as F1s. Do you know if the second generation’s genetic traits are as determined as the first generations, or are they more prone to vary in terms of coat type, size etc?
@must_love_labs2 жыл бұрын
You can search most breeds on puppies.com and see what people are selling and at what price points they use. I tend to let the market answer questions related to demand. The folks at pawprintgenetics.com are a great resource to answer specific genetic questions and I would pose your question to them.

So it's o.k. to breed a dog with it's own brother or sister?
@must_love_labs3 жыл бұрын
No. That would be Line Breeding. (Same blood line) and it’s not recommended. The siblings (inbreeding) should not breed. You increase the chance of unwanted genetic traits surfacing. Floppy ear, cleft pallet, tail too long…etc.
@alapd31228 ай бұрын
Is it ok to breed puppies using sibling dogs? Are there side effects on the pups?
