I bought 3 genmachine 5700u on aliexpress.. they are wonderful. 64GB memory, 16 threads... and 10w on idle... with a 2.5 swith I have all the power that my little company needs. Great stuff!!! I always learning something!

Rzaspberry Pi 4 still works perfectly. My raspberry pi 5 even better. My compute modules on the IO board work like new still as well All kinds of distros to use

If you can buy an old unibody Mac where the owner took out the old mechanical HD and installed an SSD and put more RAM in it trust me it works fine for a newbie. I taught myself how to upgrade my old Macs. Right now Im on my 2012 Macbook Pro 15" in Parrot OS. For a newbie would be perfect. Works fine

What exactly do you use ProxMox for?? Is it a distro??

My understanding here is that Proxmox is a hypervisor that is based on Debian. Proxmox is used as a base OS on bare metal to run other VMs and LXC (akin to Containers) and manage their network, storage, CPU, RAM and other devices that you would configure on a VM. Think VirtualBox but installed on bare metal. Why choose Proxmox compared to others (eg. XCP-ng), ease of use and beginner friendly.

you are so right. Raspberry Pi is a fantastic way for a newbie to practice simply navigating and learning basic linux commands and learning to configure and trouble shoot the sources.list

Yeah man Virtual Box I have running on a 2012 a 2015 a 2017 and 2019 Macbook pros. Debian Manjaro kali parrot. They all run great. With my M1 Max apple silicon and M1 air UTM has VM platform that run maybe the best Ive ever experienced. M1 Macs can run ubuntu raw Debian 12 kali Linux the best ive ever used
