The hardest part about getting into this lifestyle and diet is (for me) accepting that I can consume all this fat in a day,... that is the level of brain washing and guilt that I have experienced before coming across keto....but I'm working on it, it is reassuring to listen to med. doctors promoting this. Thank you for posting.

2008koss So true! I had a terrible time with the whole concept of eating fat. . .right up to the time I discovered that the more fat I eat the faster the weight melts away! And then my doctor came into the exam room dancing with joy about the results of my bloodwork. I’m convinced.

I was inspired by your video which described No GPS - no grains, no potatoes & no sugar. The LCHF seems closely alined with the Keto regime so I have used their guidelines for shopping & cooking. This made staying on track much easier & has worked for me as an over-weight diabetic. I have taken-off 20 pounds easily & have kept it off, without feeling hungry ! And have lowered my A1C. Thank you !

I'm doing this on my own and with keto youtube community, but A1C test results went from 10 in January 2017 to 6.5 after starting the low carb diet in beginning of March. Second A1C was done April 4rth. I quit taking the 2000mg of metformin they had me on and never filled the insulin prescription.

LCHF works. My BP, glucose levels and triglycerides, LDL were high. The visiting nurse insisted I call for emergency but I didn't. Went on getting rid of sugar, refined flour, processed food and very low carb, with 30 mins walk everyday and a good restful sleep, all symptoms back to normal after 3 months! Meanwhile, I lost 10 lbs which I am not ready for because I was 115 lbs to begin with. No meds for HBP and diabetes! 👍👏 Change is not easy BUT worth it!

Hi! I started a LCHF life style! I have conducted some research and here I am. I started on the 3rd of July 2017. I am still tracking my food in myfitnesspal not to track calories but to track carbs, fat, sugar, sodium, etc. I have have already lost 8lbs and 1 inch from my waist. My hunger cravings went away. I do not feel hungry all the time like I did before. I am not hating on my conventional eating habits, but I lost weight that way much slower but I did lose weight at least. I am consuming around 80g a day of complex carbs a day. My mood is better as a result it seems, and I am not as tired as I used to be when I was eating lots of carbs.

Today was fairly typical with 17% carb, 17% protein and 66% fat. I want to lower my carb intake to 12-15%, but am finding it difficult to do. I love veggies, but the very low carb ones are expensive and harder to get year round where I live (South Korea). I'm getting pretty bored of celery, cabbage and broccoli. I overate peas (frozen peas are rare here, so I got excited when I found them) today not realizing how high in total carb they are! I love peas. I'm beginning to wonder if it might just be okay to eat 50-65 total carbs and be 10 pounds over my ideal weight (154lbs at 5'7") given that I'm 39. I'm not trying to be a super model - just a healthy mom and wife. If too many peas and a half cup of blueberries are my big vices, maybe I should be okay with that?

You don't count calories, but you count carbs, just as hard, in my opinion. LCHF diet pretty much guarantees that you must eat at home all the time; no more restaurants. Good for your finances, bad for your social life. Is it worth it ? I've been doing it for a year; the first 3 months were great, lost a lot of weight and felt better; but the weight loss stopped and I feel like I used to before I started this.

Are you on any medications? I was on metformin and noticed my blood sugars were in the 200+ range most of the time, went off and most of my readings dropped by 50-60 pts in 48 hours.... Turns out, some people cannot take metformin. Although, most can so I'm not saying don't if you are on it, only that in MY case (and in some others) it doesn't have the same effect. I have an uncle whose glucose readings were elevated on metformin more than when he was off of it. So, could be a genetic thing. Just one possibility among many.

Thanks for all the videos Sarah, I watched them all and I have a better idea, but I still have questions regarding carb calculation, I mean, from vegetables is already clear, but from fats? I mean, must fats have some carbs in them, like avocado, dairy, nuts, etc, do I need to count all the carbs in them for my daily carb intake or just for the monounsaturated fats or for just nuts... I have PCOS with insulin resistance, so my goal is to be between 30 to 20mg of carbs a day. :)
@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh51187 жыл бұрын
+Juliana Leyva It's quite simple, if you do a keto diet where you only count grams of net carbs (carbohydrate count-fibre count=net carb) you count the carbohydrate amount in all the foods you consume. So also count them in avocado. If the label on the avocado says it's 2 grams net carbs per 100 grams of avocado you count those 2 grams of net carbs. Your sources of dietary fat do not have to have carbs in them, for example unprocessed meat doesn't have carbs and neither do most oils, it's your choice really. Just check every food label just to be sure.

Juliana Leyva hi Juliana I think it is quite unachievable to be trying to limit your intake to 30mg. Are you thinking more of 30gm? in terms of counting carbs , I suggest looking at breakdowns that split the carb content into fibre and other constituents. some schools of thought suggest you can ignore the fibre element and just stick to counting the other carbs and sugars. point to note , again the type of carb may make a difference for example starches may be absorbed slower than sugars because they require a bit of digesting. generally in terms of fats , avoid any processed vegetable oils like sunflower , corn etc. coconut oil is usually fine as is olive oil provided it hasn't been refined into something else. if you're adding olive oil to a meal then add extra virgin oil if you can rather than highly refined oil. but you may not be able to cook in extra virgin oil. in terms of veggies coconut and avocado are great. as are some seeds and nuts. watch out for nuts though , they may contain substances that can cause irritation to your gut like excessive consumption of almonds. it may help to soak such nuts. butter and proper cheese are your friends unless of course you are lactose intolerant. a good cheese will usually contain less than 1 percent carb... butter even less. double cream with no added sugar etc are great. let the food labels or Internet searches guide you. early on it is really important not to starve yourself and sticking to the heavy fat food will ensure your body gets satisfied. keep eating lots of salad but not high carb items like sweet corn , broccoli and leafy veg like kale and spinach are great. they prevent constipation. drink plenty of water too as your mineral balance changes a bit and you may find you have headaches etc as a result of dehydration. look up more information like butter bob , Eric berg who have great advice on keto eating too. there is an adaptation phase but the end result is worth it

You don't say how to work out the percentages I did it using calories which means you eat nowhere near as much fat as it sounds. The percentage is worked out by counting gram content then multiply starch and protein by 4 to give calories then multiply the grams of fat by nine calories. Google for a quick calculation to convert these numbers to percentages. Takes too long but I did it once, and saw why the diet wasn't working.
